Great little gadget
This was a Black Friday Amazon Warehouse return purchase so was dirt cheap. However, The USB A to C cable was missing which was critical, but luckily OH had a spare in his mancave stash. The person who’d previously returned it had a Nissan and were called Andy and James so we found when trying to hook it all up. Still awaiting Carlinkit response to my email as Amazon is not first port of call if any probs. Had a few hiccups as it wasn’t a first install for this warehouse return gadget but now it’s installed, works flawlessly upon car startup. Got a bargain but box did NOT include both wires as it should’ve done. Bit of a faffy install 2nd time around but solves my wiring issues for now, now it’s done.

Seems to be sent to market without software finished
This is my second one of these. The first one would not power up ?? OK so some things have problems !! HOWEVER - the new one powers up but connecting consistently to an Android phone just does not seem to work correctly Android is the reason I wanted it ??) Connection (both wifi and bluetooth) drops regularly. I cannot get connected to the website to check/download new software. A (borrowed) iphone 7 connects and works with carplay although I still cannot connect to carlinkit website. Checking on the net reveals these problems are far from uncommon. This seems to be sent to market without the software working correctly. Expensive (cannot say paperweight as it's not heavy enough for that) I'll stick to plugging my phone in to use android auto

Brilliant
Reading some of the reviews was skeptical this would work. Thought I'd give it a go given its free returns. It is absolutely amazing. Used on a Citroen Dispatch mk3 van that only has apple car play. With this device I now have Android auto. Set up was so easy, looks great, not laggy like some of the reviews mention. Sure it will vary depending on the car / stereo but for me works perfectly.

It works....
I have a dual wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wired installation in a Mazda 3 (2015 - Mazda retrofit) and we have both Android and Apple phones. The wired connection worked perfectly with the Android phone, but was problematic on the iPhone and wanted a wireless solution to avoid swapping the cables around. I tried splitters, hubs and cable converters to find a workable alternative to swapping cables every time and nothing has worked so far. A bit expensive to be fair, but this does work perfectly out of the box to connect my iPhone to the Mazda wirelessly. Haven't tried the Android to see if that works wirelessly yet, but because the Carlinkit adapter uses USB-C I just need to plug the box in when driving to get reliable iPhone connection, and the Samsung Android can use the same USB-C cable if needed, it's not too important. There may be a cheaper solution out there, but there is definitely no cheap solution for this problem as far as I could find.

Works on an Audi TT MMI
This works on my audi TT MMI digital cockpit for carplay. Set up is relatively straightforward. When you get in the car, connection does take place automatically but it's slow. Also when you exit the car, the MMI thinks your phone is still in the vehicle (i.e. it's fooled into thinking the phone is still wired in. That's not big deal as it's still a reminder in case you have it in the car somewhere (i.e. glove box) rather than in your pocket etc. Overall it does what it's intended for. I just wish it connected as swiftly, or close to a wired connection. So many bluetooth devices these days connect very rapidly.

Excellent quality product
Purchased for my Ford Focus 2015, which I'd already upgraded to Sync 3 in order to get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The Carlinkit 4.0 works perfectly, and being so small and discrete it's easy to keep in the car out of sight. My main use has been with Apple CarPlay on an iPhone XR, I'm really happy with the connection stability and use with Apple Maps & Waze. I've also used with music apps such as Apple Music & Amazon Music which seem to work fine and audio quality seems as good as I recall when using Wired Apple CarPlay. I've briefly tried it with Android Auto on a Samsung Phone, again, all seems fine.

Works - sort of, but with a few compromises
First of all, setup/connection was very straightforward and painless. There is no doubt that Wireless CarPlay is really convenient, but whilst this device works ok, I found there were a few fairly big trade-offs: 1. Audio quality is by no means as good as with the wired connection. I noticed on the high end particularly, that the sound quality appeared harsher and more compressed. 2. There were occasional sound drop-outs, though fairly infrequent 3. During Wireless CarPlay operation and with the phone located on the wireless charging pad, the phone would heat up considerably - I imagine this to be the combination of charging , wifi and bluetooth simultaneous operation. 4. The car infotainment screen itself became laggy, generally and not as responsive. - not sure why this was? 5. Music track selection had a fairly noticeable lag and the same result for pausing/playing. I suppose if you're happy to put up with (or compromise) over the above points, the convenience of having a wireless connection might be great for you - it just wasn't for me!! - and at £85 it's IMHO it's a fair bit to pay for so many compromises. Needless to say, the unit has been returned.

Still not working
What can I say, it just doesn't work. I installed it as described, but I am just getting sound and no screen on my car. My car has all the spec requirements as does my phone. After submitting a number of queries I was told I need to get a loan of an iphone to test further (I only use Android), purchase an additional 32gb memory card and then use a laptop to retrieve an update to the product that I need to install. Having followed all the steps by the support team, I am now told I've to wait 5 days until their team reviews and see if they can send me on the update. I've also been send links to Google drive docs that are either unretrievable or severely compromised files from an information security stand point. €165 for a small box that connects the sound from my phone to my car........... Money not well spent and still waiting on a solution.
