The Dominant (The Submissive Series Book 2)

Last year, I read the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy very quickly and found this series based on a recommendation. I read the first book The Submissive which started out slow but once you got into it, there was a definite story line and while similar to 50 Shades it had its own nuances. I ordered the second book in the Submissive Trilogy and was looking forward to the next part of the story. I read several of the reviews before I ordered it, but either missed the important ones or they were added after I ordered this book.This is the SAME story as the first book - just from the guy's perspective instead of the woman's. Love the idea of having both perspectives, but why would that require two separate books?? You could easily do that in one book or at the very least, make sure that's disclosed in the description of the book - you shouldn't have to sift through reviews to find out. At least that way you're making an informed purchase instead of being misled.I didn't finish reading the book and don't know if I will bother; I don't have that much time to read books and this left me so disappointed that I'd return it if I could. I could probably read the third book and pick up where the story left off in the first one, but figure Tara Sue Me owes me that one for free.....since that's not going to happen, maybe I'll wait a few months until the story is fuzzy and then read this second/repeat story.Hope this helps inform people so they know what they're buying before they buy it!

This is how you write a male POV novel that pairs with a prior story. There are so many new scenes, so much insight into Nathaniel's head and terrific heartbreak and vulnerability. I’m completely tied and bound to this series. THE DOMINANT leads you down the path of a complicated Hero, allowing you entry into the crevices of his mind that he doesn’t share with anyone else.I adored Nathaniel. I mean, I thought I loved him at the end of The Submissive but NOPE, layers were peeled back and truths were exposed in THE DOMINANT and I’m now left feeling sated and fulfilled.Nathaniel’s keeping his own secrets – ones that he thinks will ruin everything if Abby finds out. You watch him struggle with controlling his emotions and feelings. You understand why he shuts down the way that he does. You experience his complete and utter heartbreak and you become privy to conversations you never knew he had. What leads him to take the actions he takes in THE SUBMISSIVE? Now you know.I was so excited to find out that Nathaniel’s actually active in the lifestyle and talks to other people about it. It’s a completely natural thing that makes sense, but for some reason I never really thought about how much I would enjoy the interaction he had with his mentors and friends. This book takes what you already know and tilts it, letting in the light, allowing you to see the story from a different angle. Exactly how it should be.There are scenes that you only heard mentioned in THE SUBMISSIVE that you get to fully experience in this novel. I mean, this is perfection. Complete perfection. This one gets the complete five stars from me. It’s everything I hoped it would be and more.

This book was hard to read, listening to Nathaniel's side of the story was fun, but reading about events that have already happened throughout the entire book was hard for me. I knew what was going to happen, when it happened, the only thing that was really new to me was right after he scared her off. Seeing what happened to him was quite eye opening and interesting. I felt bad for him. Granted I've never looked at things according to the dominant's point of view and seeing him worry over things, and trying to get things just right was also rather interesting. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't known what was going to happen, all those major events in Abby's and Nathaniel's lives during these books that it (the book) would have held my attention better. It took me over a two weeks to read this book when it normally takes me just a few days. Every time I knew something bad or unpleasant was going to happen, I just stopped, put the book down, and left it be reading something else. Granted I felt bad reading something else while I was reading this book, I couldn't help it, their pain was very real, so was their angst. Angst, I believe, was very prominent int his book. I don't know how else to explain it. I will say this, the book was worth reading, just be prepared for reading something you know you've read in a different point of view again. As I've said before, it was hard, but worth it to learn his point of view.

Having read The Submissive Book 1, this is exactly the same story told from the Dominant's point of view. Same dialogue (verbatim) as in the first book throughout the whole of the book. Complete waste of money. This is Book 1 re-drafted. Expectations were that The Dominant would let us get to know the character, how he got into BDSM, his past subs etc. In truth this is a fairly weak dom, begs, cries, is selfish.

after reading the first book i was intrigued to read this as i have read a lot of erotic books but never a whole book from a mans point and although the story was the same and i thought what would be the point the author has wrote it fantastically it was a real in site to read from a mans point and i really enjoyed the journey and am eager to read book 3

Preferred this book to the first book in the series (The Submissive). A very good initial insight in to the word of BDSM. Love the attention to detail in the playroom scenes and the two main characters Abbey and Nathaniel. Great fuel for the imagination.
