Fleck 5600SXT metered water softener 48,000 grain capacity, complete system, brine tank, bypass 1", loaded tank

Easy to self install. Works great.

This Pentair/Fleck 48k softener shipped in two boxes. I received the brine tank a day before the expected arrival date, with the resin tank arriving on time. My resin tank base (plastic) broke during shipment. I called AFW Filters (distributor) and they sent a replacement out right away (Thank you AFW Filters for the great customer service!). Finished setting everything up yesterday. Install went quite well. Found the online copy of the instructions easier to read. The paper copy provided was rather small. It helped to watch videos from other distributors of the same unit (and there are many of them). Some have small variations to details, but for the most part, they are all the same.The Pentair resin tank is high quality, the Fleck 5600 STX controller seems to be well made and easy to navigate. I bought the plastic yoke assembly. I would recommend getting the stainless steel bypass valve instead. The long plastic yoke assembly hanging off the back of the controller seems like a problem just waiting to happen. After the startup procedure, everything is working as it should and no leaks.This softener is doing a great job so far removing the heavy metal/rust? smell I had, and produces nice soft water.All in all, I am please with my purchase. Recommend this Pentair/Fleck softener. Hopefully I can say the same thing years from now. Should I have a problem, it looks like replacement parts are readily available.

I would not recommend the Fleck 5600SXT metered water softener (48,000 grain) to anyone. Ever since it was installed by a licensed plumber, I’ve had nonstop problems.Almost immediately, resin beads started coming out of my shower and faucets. I’ve literally showered feeling beads on my skin. It got so bad that I had to remove the hoses from my washing machine because they were completely clogged with resin. Now my water pressure throughout the house is low. This is especially frustrating because my home was recently re-piped, and now I’m being forced to call another company just to unclog my plumbing because of this defective system. When I contacted the company to exchange the tank (after spending about $1,000 on professional installation), their solution was to tell me I’d have to completely uninstall the entire system before they would send a replacement. Absolutely unacceptable. Who is supposed to pay for uninstalling and reinstalling a faulty system? Certainly not me.The company claimed it was installed wrong. Even my plumber got on the phone with them, and the outcome was the same — no real support, no accountability, and no concern for the additional costs caused by their product failure.Between the resin leakage, plumbing damage, low water pressure, and lack of customer support, this has been a terrible experience from start to finish. Save yourself the headache, the plumbing bills, and the frustration — look elsewhere.

Working well, ducting very quietly. However, I'm having an issue dialing in hardness value that functionally changes how often this recycles. I measured 17 ppm, and set it to 14 after noticing the unit recycles well before the remaining gallon display indicates it should. I will lower the value again, and also check if I can extend the default recycle time (14 days) that overrides lesser need. I can probably get away with more like 20 days.

We purchased a water softener just a few years ago on Amazon and it stopped working. I did my homework on the best types of water softeners, those that are professional grade. This one fits the bill. It doesn’t use nearly as much salt, regenerates only as needed and keeps our water very soft.

It works great.

We had a handyman suggest this Flex 5600. He had said he had one for years without issue. We bought it for $700 and he installed for $400. A well know water softening company wanted $5600! We did not need tech support.

This is a replacement for a softener we got at Home Depot. It is by far the better softener. It was recommended by a friend who has had one for several years.
