Just simply solves the problem
Simple, cheap, and effective. Guitar locked in place. If you have a battery powered pre-amp in the guitar, you'll have to remove the battery or the plug turn it on an runs it down. No biggie for the benefit.

I thought I had a brilliant idea until I found Strap Jack
This is a great product. Many months back I became frustrated not being able to find a strap holder solution for my acoustic electric Taylor. A few months later I literally imagined this product in my head prior to knowing about it. I talked about the concept with friends and contacted a manufacturer. I've lagged ever since. When I came across the Strap Jack, I slunched in my chair knowing my hope of making millions was gone. That being said, I immediately smiled when I plugged in the Strap Jack. It is a perfect solution to securing your acoustic electric guitar. It did not activate the electronics on my Taylor.Buy this product... it's a drop in the bucket to secure your instrument! Five stars.

A great device with one major downfall
The Strap Jack is a great little device—with one major downfall that may or may not apply to your acoustic-electric guitar.First, I will say that it works exactly as described: it easily fits into the guitar jack and feels very secure. I have no fears of my strap falling off while it is on, and it is not so tightly in place that I am afraid of damaging my guitar. It's very light and compact and made of what feels like high-quality materials. It goes completely unnoticeable while it's in place, and even if someone does happen to see it, it looks very sleek. Additionally, the rubber donut that comes in the bag works well on the other end of the guitar; however, I will say that on most of my guitars (acoustic and electric alike) it seems a couple of millimeters too thick when it is on. The strap is definitely secure, but it almost feels too tight. Now, the main downfall: This device can turn on active pickups in certain acoustic-electric guitars based on the battery engaging system. I have a Taylor GS Mini-e, and when the Strap Jack is in place it actually turns on the pickup and drains the battery. In the case of guitar pickups like my Taylor, there is a small metal latch that is pressed down whenever ANYTHING is inserted into the jack. When this latch is engaged, the circuit is complete and the battery turns on. However, other guitars' engaging system may be a different design and requires that the jack inserted is made of metal to complete the circuit and turn on the battery; if your pickup had this type of engaging system, the battery would not drain (the Strap Jack is made entirely of plastic and so does not conduct electricity). So for my Taylor GS Mini-e, the Strap Jack is pretty much useless. I will have to use it on a different guitar to get my money's worth out of it. I will give this product 4/5 stars though since literally everything else about this device is perfect. But be sure to check the engagement system of your pickup before you purchase!

works great, but beware battery!
Works like it is intended and gives me an extra degree of safety. Just be careful because it might drain your battery. Not sure how to check which guitars it does that on...

Don’t like the guitar falling, but don’t want to drain the battery? Get this!
The plastic plug that goes in the 1/4” jack hole secures the strap without draining the battery. The black hard rubber strap lock is much more secure than other strap rings.Best inexpensive way to keep an expensive guitar securely strapped.

Tired of Struggling w/ the end of your shoulder strap!?
I've tried a number of products. This one actually works. I have this thing for buying nice straps for my acoustics. That pin on the end of the guitar where you plug in your 1/4" jack is just too wide. I got tired of stressing a beautiful leather strap over that over sized lip.Pros: These work perfectly. Just poke your strap over no problem. Very easy to use. No one would even notice it.Cons: Can only use when playing full acoustic 'cause the pin fills the hole you plug your cable into. Not really much of a problem 'cause you can always plug your cable through the strap.

Amended....Almost a great idea but..
Amendment to my initial review... I contacted the people at Strap Jack and they were very responsive. They assisted in trouble shooting the issue and it may just be the end pin jack in my guitar. I don't know if it is a defect in the end pin of my guitar or they type of end pin Epiphone used. I can put an amp cord into it and it seats and plays through an amp. I can also put the Strap Jack in an amp jack and it stays. Anyway this is a good company with great customer service and they stand behind their product. Even believing that the problem is my guitar and not their device they still offered me a refund.I am a bit of a beginner and was really bummed when I got a strap for Christmas and found it didn't fit on the jack plug/strap peg. I was disappointed with the strap keepers I tried and then thought it would be nice if there was something shaped like the cord plug. Saw this on Amazon and was bummed when I realized my invention had already been invented lol. I bought it right away. I have an Epiphone Hummingbird and this device seems to be too short by about the thickness of my strap. If I stick it in the jack without my strap I can feel it seat. With the strap on it doesn't seat. The weight of the guitar helps keep the strap in place as long as there is tension on the strap. As soon as you take the strap off your shoulder the pin falls out. Its ok for someone like me standing in front of a music stand learning chords but I would not recommend it to a some that performs and moves around on stage.
