OXO Good Grips Microwave Popcorn Popper

I was looking for a microwave popcorn that did not have palm oil in it. When I realized that was a fruitless endeavor I decided to make my own popcorn in the microwave.This popcorn popper does not require any oil so that is a good thing if you intend to just add your own melted butter. You avoid all the over salted popcorns out there. I put 1/3 cup popcorn in the center, put on the bowl on and set the microwave for 3 1/2 minutes. Worked perfect. The only thing I'd suggest is pouring the popcorn into a metal sieve and then transferring the popcorn back to the bowl handfuls at a time. This is so you avoid popcorn kernels that might not have popped. That is what I was doing even with bags of microwave popcorn.So I enjoy using this popcorn popper but I'd advise you be careful of the steam when opening. There is a way to release some of the steam by pressing down on the middle of the silicon lid. I still sometimes use oven mitts to open it however as there is a lot of built up steam. This thing really works well ion the microwave... I fill with 1/3c -1/4c popcorn, add a little oil, put in microwave 1/2 power for 5min then full power for 2 min... Comes out great... No getting popcorn stuchk to the sides and seems to pop better with no burning because the popped popcorn is free to expand away from the unpopped shells that need more microwave heating... I don't use the top for a bowel because it is a little warm or "hot" for the thin skinned immediately after being removed from the microwave...

It works fine, makes popcorn without any oil, and cleans up easily. I have regular cheapo popcorn in a big plastic bag, and it popped evenly without any burnt kernels and very few unpopped kernels. I have only cooked the "full" amount recommended (1/3) cup. For a quick popcorn snack with no fat, it's great.

My husband and I really love OXO products, we have yet to find one we don't like! With that, we purchased this popcorn maker and it is SO awesome!! We absolutely love it! Not only is it easy to use but you can just use the clear bowl as the serving dish too which is very nice. It's also easy to clean. The only thing I was a bit bummed about after the first use was the clear plastic bowl had some marks on it from the hot kernels hitting or resting on it. That is my only complaint though. I do highly recommend this though if you're looking for a healthier way to pop your popcorn!

I had high hopes for this popper with the silicone base & no BPA in the lid. The great intentions didn't hold up though. After a couple test runs to get the time right (it is easy to bun if you're not careful) a problem developed. Once popped you turn the unit over to use the clear top as the serving bowl. That dumps all the unpopped kernels into the mix, and it's hard to get them all settled out again. Much too risky based on the cost of replacing a crown. OXO factory was not concerned about the problem when I brought it to their attention. Back to my Presto Power Pop which leaves the unpopped kernels in the bottom.

This item pops well enough but the plastic top will not come clean. The popcorn seems to have melted into the plastic dome and I can't scrub it out. I wish it had a glass dome.

Pops well. Less noisy than air popping. Not large capacity and the lid/bowl is just big enough for the corn popped, so if you want to pour butter on the popcorn and flip it, popcorn falls out.

Purchased this more expensive option because the silicone was food-rated (most of the cheaper models are not food-grade even if labeled that). It took a few burnt kernels to realize how long I had to use in my microwave; I put a dollop of oil (coconut or grapeseed) and a 1/4 cup of popcorn and I get a full bowl of popcorn. As mentioned in other reviews, it would have been nice to have a hole in the top of the bowl so that moist air can escape but I just quickly dump it into another bowl to avoid any soggy pieces from the condensation.I also mix a 1/4 tsp of Flavacol in the oil before putting the popcorn in and it seasons the popcorn well.A great purchase!

Honestly this is great.

Works as stated. Use often with no issues.Cleans easily. Hasn't changed color much easier to use than an air popper

It works just fine. However when used more than twice in succession it gets quite hot. it takes a few tries to get the microwave timer just right to avoid old maids.
