Great shortwave antenna
This antenna is very easy to set up and use. It will dramatically improve shortwave reception, and it is ideal for use with a portable radio while traveling. Note that the tuning knob should be adjusted very carefully - it has a very sharp response. I have been using this antenna with a Sony 7600 portable receiver as well as an ICOM R75 desktop receiver. All the different ways of attaching the antenna to the receiver are possible with the items included in the package. A comparable product is Sony's loop antenna AN-LP1 which is three times more expensive and supposed to have similar (only slightly better) performance compared to this Degen DE31MS antenna (see reviews for both these antennas on [...])

Works ok. I get a little better reception than a homemade wire antenna on standard SW bands in the RF heavy city, and it uses a smaller space for setup. Build quality could be better! Looking at the housing on the signal amplifier, you can see that it was not snapped together correctly at the factory. Also, after batteries are inserted, I can not slide the battery compartment door on all the way closed. It causes the batteries to lose connection somehow and the power disconnects. Mine did not come with the suction cup hanger, but did contain some sort of ferrite core that for the life of me can not figure out how to use. Instructions show a picture of its setup, but I can not figure out how it is supposed to help. My package was shipped USPS via China Post and had appeared to be opened during shipping, which may explain missing suction cup. I think the unit does work the way it is supposed to, but the builders do not seem worried about quality and I do not expect it to be a long term piece of gear. If you need a temporary antenna and do not mind fixing factory mistakes on the device this is a good antenna for you.

5 Stars if they review some issues
Great performer for a few money.Cons: It is somewhat fragile and the tuning control is too sensitive to the touch. By some tests I can say that it is equivalent in shortwave performance to a cable of about 15 meters or more.Limited frequency range on Short Waves, but you get what you pay forI bought 3: One came badly armed and I had to weld it well. The tuning box of the second burned itself so I had 2 useful. They should improve quality controlPros: It fits everything in a pocket and you can achieve good listening in both Short Wave and Medium Wave. The price is low and in areas without QRM you can achieve very good DXs

5 Star review of the SW and MW Degen 31ms Active magnetic loop SW antenna
My wife, Tere Pizarro bought me, Jorge Berrios, (I am the one making the review) the Degen 31ms Active magnetic loop SW antenna 1.5 month's ago! I use it inside my house, Since the HOA NEIGHBORHOODS association does not permit me to put external antenna on my house! When I am using it it is enhancing the SW and AM (MW) performance of my radios a lot! I will recommend this Antenna without hesitation! I will test it outside in a Park soon! Keep up the good work!😀📻

Poor performance
This little device does absolutely nothing to improve signal gain. I tried it on a few pieces of short-wave and AM/FM equipment and found that there is no noticeable--i.e. audible-- difference in performance with or without the device. I ended up buying and building a little pre-amp kit manufactured by a company that has been around for a very long time with great results. It was good to get back into soldering components onto a breadboard, again.Of course, it could be that this unit is simply defective.

It ain't all that
Not very effective and would be easily broken, but it is slightly better than just the whip, but not by much. Could maybe have a use when traveling and staying in a hotel.

Probably better options
Upon attaching this device to my radio, there has been a slight improvement in HF reception compared to stock antennas for two devices; shortwave and software-defined radio (SDR).Despite the slight performance improvement, all gains appear to result from the increased surface area and reception of the passive wire loop (when compared to the respective stock antennas) rather than any attributable 'active' gains from the battery power. Other than the power LED turning red, switching on the power source and/or adjusting the tuning switch produces no appreciable improvement; substantially identical results were seen whether the device was powered on or off.In summary, this antenna obtains slightly better reception than my stock antennas for generic shortwave radios. It is my speculation that there are better options that would improve results for a lower cost (i.e. a properly placed length of copper wire). If there are any performance details or other operational configurations that I am missing out on please fill me in so that I can get this device to achieve the advertised results.

This unit did not work. Signal strength was the same with the switch on or off. Even changing the batteries did not make a difference. Finally I became so disgusted with it that I threw the unit in the trash. Too much trouble to send it back to China.
