Improved packaging and delivery makes all the difference
Updated review September 2013I bought a big bag of Nyjer seed in the early summer from a local bird store and the birds didn't like it. So I took the plunge and ordered a third bag of this seed from Amazon and they changed delivery service! This time instead of the carrier used previously, it came UPS. The packaging was perfect, held the bag very snug. No damage, no loose seed. So now everything is perfect and I highly recommend this for excellent value and quality.Original February 2013 reviewIt was a great convenience getting a big bag because we have so many birds at our feeder that 25 pounds lasted a little over two months. The seed quality is good and the birds love it. I agree there is a bit more chaff than I would like that can clog the tiny holes of our feeder, but we change the food regularly and clean the feeder so it really isn't a problemThe only problem is that we have ordered it twice now and both times the bag arrived broken with a shipping box full of seeds- a huge mess. The second time the delivery guy complained about it because he still remembered how the seeds got all over his truck the first time. And this time the bag was a newer design- some kind of plastic coated (?) material compared to the paper bag the first time. Both were torn because the heavy bag bounced around inside the Amazon shipping box. Amazon Fulfillment needs to put better packing material around the bag to stabilize it for shipment. They used wadded long paper sheets but those can't put enough force on the bag. Maybe someone at Two to Tango could put a little pressure on Amazon to up its game? I've been getting a lot of damaged merchandise lately, especially for items shipped from Hebron KY, so it may be a joint problem of the Amazon warehouse and the shipper.

Great Buy!
We have goldfinches everywhere and needed an inexpensive way to feed them. This absolutely fit the bill. It fit into a bucket and we store it with a lid. We will be purchasing again.

A good value
As a rule, Niger seed is rather expensive. This was a good value. Don't look for fancy, colorful packaging here. You don't need to pay for that. It comes in a thick paper sack. The birds won't turn it down.

Packaging sack is better than the product photo
The birds love the seed and it does not sprout on the ground. It is dusty, but that is expected for bulk packaging. The sack is no longer a generic brown. Rather, it is a heavy duty plastic-like material with photos and text suitable for retail marketing.

Nyjer Seed
I bought this because I have so many finches and this was cheaper and I liked the fact I that could get a 25 pound bag. It was a huge waste of money! The finches wouldn't eat this seed! They kept disappearing until last week it dawned on me that it could be the seed. I purchased a 25 lb. bag of Wagners, filled a feeder and lo and behold, there were 6-8 finches on it shortly after. It was empty in two days. That's the first and last time I switch to something cheaper. Don't waste your money on this product.

Package arrived busted. Seed looks good. Birds like.
The 25 lb plastic bag was busted open at the top and 1/4 of the seed was spilled out into the shipping box. The plastic bag had apparently been just taped shut instead of properly sealed. It was a bit of a mess to transfer into a pail. I could not tell if I actually got the full 25#. Nonetheless, the seed appeared fresh and goldfinches arrived immediately to eat it. Good value for price.

Not 50 pounds buyer beware
This is used as finch bird seed. The information presented said 50 pounds. However when arrived it was 25 pounds. So beware. Package was torn and leaked out of packaging box

Little to no twigs or dirt to add weight to purchase rather than seed for my birds.
