Those guys over there had figured out how to manufacture pattern-welded "Damascus" steel knives. They are probably being made by the millions, at repeatable high quality and at low costs. One-off knives of the type had in the past been from hit-or-miss days-long efforts by true artisans. But no longer. Although the pattern-welded outer layers are primarily for cosmetic purpose here, they never-the-less add much to the visual appeal. The functional core is of a VG10 variant, and should make for fine cutting performance for a knife that will actually get used. So what if that is not the "ultimate" steel, whatever that is conceived to be. Most of the time, a knife will get touch-up sharpening long before it gets dull. So there is little real advantage in having the ultimate. The rest of the knife is functionally perfect (for any price). Surely there are a few cosmetic flaws, if you really look for them. Overall, it is money well-spent. There are those with "tofu dreg" snickers. The same was said of Japanese products of the 1960s era.

I bought it because I really like the shape of the blade there’s no weak point that’ll take all the abuse it’s very evenly distributed and balanced the handle fits perfectly in your hand and it feels great it seems really sturdy no play in the blade and deploys well after the first flick or two looks pretty crazy in a good way never seen a knife with so much character,it’s sharp as hell and has a strong pocket clip that’s important to me.the case ain’t bad either it’s real leather and the knife blade does look to have a core with other metal on each side being Damascus so I give it 5 stars for the price it’s nice it ain’t no benchmade but I won’t be afraid to use it either so definitely worth buying and I’d probably get the titanium handle if you don’t like the flashy one.

I absolutely love this knife. It's my every day carry. Durable and holds a sharp blade very well. I hope to get more from Benkey in the future.

This was given as a gift an it was a hit, the wife got this 1 as an extra for a co-worker helping me out. Both were very happy with both knives 1 from this company an 1 from the other. Thanks to Amazon for some mix ups and making things work out great, don't be shy with buying this small blade. Sharp and the quality is 5/5 on this small fold in knife. Blade ja gorgeous also.

Present for my daughter for her 16th birthday, she loves it and so do I. The colors look better than in the picture.the handle feels perfect, opening the knife was perfectly smooth, easy to close, and came with a very nice leather sheath to carry it with. Everything thing about the knife from weight to texture, all the details to the comfortability of size, you can easily see haw amazing the quality is. It far surpassed my expectations for the price! This is a Fantastic knife! I have read several review that this is not real Damascus, that is NOT true!! You can see the core and layers in the picture I posted. It has Super Fast opening! the handle is Real Abalone Shell that was cut in pieces and covered with the clear hard substance. There are a few bubbles on top of the abalone, you can see them in the close up of the handle. The bubbles are Very Small, not noticeable without looking very closely. Came shaving sharp!! The sheath is Very Good also! Yes, this is considered a "budget knife", but it does NOT look, feel or open like one!! If you are trying to decide if you should buy this knife, BUY IT!! Worth Every Penny and much more!!
