some of her initial songs were very good for rock-a-billy genre but after awhile her songs just repeated, same music different words

the first time i played it once i took it out of the sleeve it skipped on the last few tracks but there are no scratches. it should not have been skipping since it is brand new. now it is starting to skip more each time i play it i want my money back

I recently heard a song that was being used for a Skoda tv advert which immediately grabbed my attention but I knew nothing about the title or singer. After I googled the advert I found that the singer was called Wanda Jackson, who rather embarrassingly I had never heard of before, and the song is called "Whirlpool." I then quickly went in search on Amazon for the artists name and cd with the song on it. After checking the tracklisting on the available discs I settled on this great collection of songs. Incidentally, there are 50 tracks on this double cd release from the One Day label not 40 as indicated on the front cover that I received, though 50 tracks is on the front picture selling the product on Amazon.According to the sleeve notes provided by Drew Heatley, Wanda was influenced by Elvis Presley who encouraged her to sing rock and roll songs. When listening to Wanda's singing I think it is highly possible that she in turn may have influenced Janis Joplin, as Wanda has a gritty throaty quality to her voice that Joplin at times shouted rather than sang. But the voice of Wanda Jackson has an all-round better quality to it, far easier on the ear for one thing.Apart from the song that first grabbed my attention, "Whirlpool", other superb recordings include "Honey Bop", "Fujiyama Mama", "Mean Mean Man", "Sticks and Stones", "Hot Dog! That Made Him Mad", "Lonely Weekends", "Stupid Cupid" which is a song that I have heard of many times on radio since I was a child I just never knew who sung it, and it is probably the best known song at least here in the UK, "You've Turned To A Stranger", "In The Middle Of A Heartache" and "Don'a Wan'a" are refreshingly listenable. Personally, I enjoyed every track and those that I have highlighted I particularly liked.The quality of recordings are excellent throughout and the discs come in a gatefold package.

My mum was over the moon opening her present especially this lady she's loved her for years and now can listen all the time. It's now in her car as she's a carer so in it alot and has it blaring out on her rounds. Where she can of course.

I bought this for my brother, he gave it 5 stars, not my kind of music.
