My husband and son ride mountain bikes. On our property they are making a series of trails. They use this shovel, with its added weight, to tamp down a trail or berm.In my opinion, the weight makes it cumbersome to use for traditional work, like scooping mulch. It was bought to be mainly used on trails and works exceedingly well.The shovel is constructed of solid materials, with good craftsmanship.

Really nice shovel. The head is forged out of thicker steel. It is heavier than most square point shovels made from pressed steel, but the head also forms a more acute angle with the handle. This makes it easier to make a level cut through earth and allows the user to cradle more material with each transfer. Built to last .

A real winner for the money. The forged head is made in India. Solid heavyweight head Grey coated with small turnovers for your feet to land on . This is going to be a work out. Stout ash handle sanded off the clear coat with 220 and hand rubbed 100% tung oil. Very pleasing direct contact for heavy materials distribution. No rug burn.

This thing is built to last. It’s heavy but that will help it get through the sand and mulch.
