Savon de Marseille with Provence Lavender - 300g [Misc.]

Smells so, so beautiful. I have the rose. It's been lasting forever and I've been using it for months now--the writing is still not worn off, and the square still maintains it's stature after washing my hands with this soap multiple times per day. I have very dry hands and I've found this soap does dry my hands out a little, but not as much as most of the soaps I have used. The lather on this is also very good. I adore this. I will repurchase. It feels so luxurious to use and it is worth the money for how long it lasts.Another use for this I've found is washing my makeup sponges. Cleans them great, though does leave kind of a dry sticky feeling to them (like my sponges have been sucked of moisture and glycerine has been added to them somehow), but what I've found is if I rinse afterward with Purity face cleanser by Philosophy, the sponge is replenished with enough moisture to keep it from ripping. (The purity would not be enough to cleanse the sponge--the soap does the cleansing, the purity does the conditioning, and the purity replenishes just enough moisture the sponge needs to be rejuvenated without adding too much and eventually causing your skin to break out from an excess of oil). After this short, 2 minute process, my sponges are perfect.

My concerns as I purchased this product:1 - it is a very bright color... as natural as it claims?2 - what if I hate the way it makes my skin feel? I have very dry, sensitive skin, and I pick at my fingernails/bit of dermatillomania...I've used it once but so far... pretty sure I'll never go back to "commercial" soaps.Pros:It seems actually very legitimate as far as savon de m. goes. It is very bright and I could smell the block from a couple of feet away. However, once water hit it, I smelled olives, and it was not overpowering or gross - I actually love it! I did still detect some of the orange scent but it didn't smell fake.My skin feels good in it, it didn't make me itchy like the Dove shower gel can... we'll see about dryness as we go on, however... I also put it on my scalp! I have about an average amount of sebum in my hair, and only wash it every 3 days (water only first night, conditioner only second night, and full shampoo and conditioner third night). It's curly and I hate to wash out my curls! This did not dry my scalp (my shampoo always removes all the sebum... leaving me itchy and flaky) but I also don't feel oily - typically after 3 days I do, but this soap definitely works for my hair if not my skin (right now it's 100% my favorite new product).The LATHER, let me say: wonderful. It takes me at least 5 pumps of Dove to get the lather I got with one "polish" of my block! Haven't needed a shave yet but I don't think I'm buying shaving cream anymore either.I am going to try and import some savon and see if they're similar but this is a great product regardless and I'll definitely be purchasing it again. I'm thinking this will be the "white elephant" gift I get for our office party!I air dry my whole body and I smell very faintly of the soap now: it's clean and soft without being too much of anything, and I'm not putting on bunches of lotion tonight. I'll try to update after a bit but otherwise reviewers, consider no news to be good news!!!Attached 11/22/16, after one night of this soap on my hair... look at the curls, they're perfect!!!

I don't think I have ever been as excited to receive an Amazon package as I have this one, and I wasn't disappointed. This soap smells wonderful, looks absolutely gorgeous, and feels wonderful on my skin. It arrived in 2 days with Amazon Prime, and I have already ordered 2 more in Rosé and Orange Flower. I have always had beautiful soft skin, but for some reason (allergies?), this year my skin has been plagued with itchy eczema patches. I have tried Aveeno baby wash, Cetaphil, Shea butter shower gels....must have spent $100's on products that did not help and are now cluttering up the product graveyard in my closet. This soap did not irritate my skin at all, despite being wonderfully fragranced. I also find that shower gels only leave you feeling fresh for a very short time, while soaps give you a super-clean feeling that lasts for hours, which is important to me as I am a nurse and get exposed to some very unpleasant smells and stuff during a 12 hour shift, so the longer that fresh feeling lasts, the happier I am! It is also the most beautiful soap to use when I stagger home, smelly and exhausted after work and just want to feel clean and girly again...to wash with this lovely Lavender soap and then crawl into bed with fresh, clean, lavender scented sheets is one of the simplest and relaxing pleasures after a hard night's work! I also purchased some of the liquid Savon de Marseilles soap from my local TJ Maxx, and take this to work with me in a tiny travel-bottle, so that I can experience a little bit of soothing luxury whenever I wash my hands at work. This soap is expensive...but seriously, you are worth it! Everyone needs a little luxury in their life now and again.
