HPThunderbolt Dock 280W G4 with Combo Cable

Our company has all HP products I've been ordering this product for our business unit since 2019 and I probably ordered over 150 of these for my business unit and we've only had an issue out of two of them and I think both issues was a power supply but nothing was wrong with the docking station just keep drivers up to date I am the IT person for our company BU part of a larger company.

This my second G4 purchase. My Samsung monitor kept disconnecting (no signal detected). After hours with my tech support, I replaced the G4 ((and replaced the monitor). The new one arrived but the signal detection did not improve. I had issues with the WIN 10 workstation differentiating between the two HP monitors. I was able to work through that but the second HP monitor would drop the signal for 5 - 10 seconds, then come back. Yesterday I replaced the temporary HP with a new Samsung (one Samsung, one HP now), and the NEW Samsung loses its signal for 5 - 10 seconds every 15 - 20 minutes. NOT happy! I do like the versatility of the G4 but the video defect is very irritating. I feel like I threw good money down the sewer.

Needs to be reset too often. It stays in a stationary location, not like it is moved. Only had a few months and resetting every other start up. Would have expected better for the price paid.

So I purchased this after wasting an hour of my life talking to the outsourced sales guy at HP, he barely spoke English so I knew it was going to be a rough start. So he told me this would be the product I needed for my HP Victus. So I checked Amazon and the product was over 100 bucks cheaper here. So I bought it.Now for the review:Pros: Lots of ports. Small Foot print. Easy to set up.Cons: Trashes the performance of your laptop. Internet speed was almost half of what it was through the network port directly on the laptop. Majors programs lag and Windows itself runs like garbage. Disconnected the dock and everything runs perfectly again. The firmware and drivers are so intensive that the device degrades the performance of the laptop by a huge margin.If you need performance in any shape, do not get this dock. Your laptop will slow dramatically.

I have used this docking station for 6 months now. I returned one since it was causing screen disconnects continually. Got a new one and updated to the latest firmware and I got on average 5 BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) a week. I went back to my previous laptop docking station (a Lenova one) and no issues for the last two weeks. I wouldn't recommend this unit at all. Sure being able to turn on your laptop without opening in, is nice... but BSODs are worse.

The dock looks nice on your desk, but the shape is unsuitable if you bring it to different locations.This dock has given me much grief, and it has led to me hating it with a passion over time.The connection to the combo cable is very unstable. Touching the cable or even just moving around the desk causes disconnection. After disconnecting, the settings for external monitors are messed up, and you need to fix that every time it disconnects. Connection to the external webcam and 3D-Connexxion mouse will be lost as well after disconnecting, and to fix this, you need to reboot.On start-up, it might decide not to connect the monitors today or your webcam, mouse or keyboard. You will then need to reboot at least once but often multiple times before it will display your desktop on external monitors or get the functionality of your mouse, keyboard or webcam back.Devices and LAN connected through ports on the dock are slower than when you would connect them directly to your laptop.So you end up connecting everything directly to your laptop anyway and purchasing USB hubs and Mini DP to DP converters.This dock is quite pricey, especially compared to other docks available on the market.Don't buy it. You will lose countless hours fixing stuff, and it will drive you mad.

First one arrived DOA. The replacement came about a week later in snail mail. That one failed about 3 weeks later. Not a quality product.

Love the product but hate that its a big cube sitting on my desk staring at me. I ended up finding a mount on Etsi and it now lives under my desk - zip tied to my desk leg

Had it a couple of days, seems what I needed, I did hear the fan when it was doing a firmware update it is noisy so beware of that if it comes on.I've yet to understand why there is a dual dc connector and usb c connector I use the latter, as included picture instructions tell you nothing.The button on top, I hear only works to put it HP branded Laptops into sleep mode which mine is. So you'll need to check with your model.Just to make people aware that this model from this seller is not a UK model it comes with the default 2 pin plug but they will, however, add a 3pin UK plug with it. So far so good!

Couldn't get locally, but delivered within 24 hours to regional Australia.

Gut verarbeitetes Gerät, leider mit unverhältnismäßig großem, externen Netzteil. Musste es zurückschicken, da es unter Linux nicht richtig funktionierte.

Such a f**g useless product. Every time you will switch on the laptop from this docking station, the monitors are not detected. Every time you need to disconnect the laptop and reconnect the wires (C-connectors). Totally sick of this product. Every time i have to open the lid of the laptop to switch On and enter my password. What's the use of such useless product.
