How much do you spend on sushi? Things got a little out of hand for us and we weren't going out for sushi as often as we wanted to. Prices were going up and portions were going down, so it started to seem like it just wasn't worth the trip. Then I saw a YouTube video with a kit similar to this one and our lives changed forever.It may sound dramatic but think about your average sushi order (quantity and cost) and then add up the cost of a small bag of sushi rice, seasoned rice vinegar, crab/imitation crab/salmon, a small bag of carrots, a cucumber, a small package of cream cheese, a package of nori, and 2-3 small avocados. We generally get twelve over-stuffed sushi rolls with 6 cups of cooked rice and have leftover ingredients for another sushi night.Both of my kids (10 and 22) and I can now make sushi rolls and we take turns being in charge of making them for our family sushi nights. It makes them feel accomplished, teaches them a life skill, and helps spread the work load. Win-win-win.Unlike the kit in the YouTube video, this one comes with everything you need. Lots of doodads but the bazooka is the important item. We got a perfect roll first time we used it. BUT one of us had experience making sushi the old fashioned way so we kind of knew what we were doing. Best if you go on You tube and look at some videos. Keep in mind you need to use sushi rice and treat it with vinegar and a little sugar for best results. Google sushi rice recipes or get a recipe book. When using don't put in too much rice or it won't close. just cover the bottom/sides and then make your little ditch for the fillings. Good. Fun. I got two of these, each from a different place so you might see this review twice.

This kit is a real find! Very easy to use, even for beginners. Rolls and sushi come out beautiful, even, and neat. It’s a pleasure to work with, and the results inspire new culinary experiments!

We have no sushi restaurants nearby. My husband decided to make his own… Bought this kit as a gift - it’s perfect! Lots of extras like the avocado slicer in there too. Excellent value and good quality.
