Creative Connectors Decorative Floating Wall Shelf Kit (White, 24")

I give any and all Creative Connectors' products one star off by default, because of the high price versus cheap non-wood construction, including the incredibly cheap (not even pine, almost like balsa wood - what the hell is that, anyway?) wood used to make the little connectors that screw into the wall and can easily break during installation. So four stars is as good a review as Creative Connectors will ever get from me.That being said, another star off for missing one of the long screws (although it did come with an EXTRA of the cheap wood connectors - lesson learned about customers' constantly breaking them, or did a worker confuse a screw with a connector? Beats me...).But that star is gained back by a completely undocumented advantage that this shelf kit provides. Like all Creative Connectors shelves, it can be difficult to get this exactly level. In fact, this is harder because instead of leveling the shelf (like their corner shelves), you initially have to level two of those wooden connectors some distance apart. But unlike their other shelf types, I figured out that you can easily fix it if you get them off-level; while not documented in their instructions, you can just put a spacer - a tiny chip of wood, a screw, anything - on top of the low bracket. The way this particular unit works, kind of a simple three-dimensional jigsaw puzzle - the bracket portion hides the connector, and the shelf hides and locks the brackets in-place, so what's behind the bracket is completely invisible. All you do is add some height to the low connector and it will become part of the entire assembly when it locks together. With a different Creative Connectors product or most any other shelf, you'd have to remove one bracket, patch the holes, and try again.Note that unlike some Creative Connectors products, this is NOT a "floating shelf" and cannot be mounted directly to drywall: you will need to find the studs behind the wall and screw the connectors into them.

This is a nice looking shelf. The finish is "tender" and too easily marred but in a low use venue it is just fine. The mounting system is far to exacting for the average DIY person. One must have an electric drill, square, Molly anchors (if studs are not available), level (small one provided) and good luck. The brackets, both on the wall and on the shelf, have some wiggle room which saves the days.

If you take your time with the install, this shelf works well. I wouldn't recommend for someone with limited tools (levels, drills, squares). The tape used to hold it all together during shipping took some of the finish off.

i ordered this and it came in damaged and missing parts.i requested a replacement and it came in damaged and with no mounting hardware.i'm going to keep this one and make it work but it is certainly not the quality i was expecting.well, i couldn't make that one work, but Amazon sent me a replacement with a guarantee that it would not be damaged.it came in today, and as promised, was undamaged. thanks, Amazon, you guys are the best!

The people who gave this a negative review obviously have no skills whatsoever. It was easy to put together and works perfectly. The three pieces are not attached, and it does take a little measuring and thought to line the braces up with the base. I recommend a chalk line to make everything level. For the negative reviewers... go to Target and buy a pre-made set. I bet you won't get it as level as I got this item.

First of all, the instructions that come with the product are pretty vague regarding installation. Second, the tools provided aren't enough to hold up the shelf by itself. The basic gist of it is that you screw the bracket to the wall, slide the "L shaped" part of the shelf on the bracket and then pop the actual flat part of the shelf on top. I had to purchase additional screws for added support because the brackets did not hold up the "L shaped" part of the shelf on its own. Both would slide off, so I resorted to screwing the "L shape" to the bracket instead.They look good now that they're finally up on the wall, but frankly I don't think they were worth the trouble (I bought the 35 1/2 inch and 24 inch shelves). They took quite some time to arrive at my home and installation was a hassle. You're better off buying shelves at your local Target or Ikea.

Easy to assemble, good looking and sturdy. It's just what I was looking for. Only thing I didnt like is that the picture online made it look more mahogany than walnut colored (which would have matched my decor better), but I'm still happy about this purchase.

Installation process was straightforward and fairly easy to complete. The shelf both looks good and is serving its intended function.
