Nothing to complain about
This album was obviously highly anticipated by the indie rap community as 'The Bake Sale' was such a phenomenal album and we haven't seen much from Cool Kids since then. I have to say that this album didn't disappoint. It maintains everything I loved about 'The Bake Sale' in the simple bass lines and smooth, flowing, creative lyrics. Their unique style is maintained in this album and the addition of a variety of other rappers give the album some diversity which helps the album be listenable straight through without too much repetition.Negatives include what I think is over-use of the synth hits in many of the tracks that are a little distracting at times. I think it is unfair to judge the album based on the 'selling out to Mountain Dew' situation. If you are only coming out with a quality album ever 5 years or so, you have to capitalize in a competitive and difficult industry that is music.Bottom line, if you liked their old stuff, go ahead and pick this up. You won't be disappointed.

Mikey (and Chuck) rock
Long overdue review, but much needed. The bottom line is that this is rap the way it was intended to be. Hard beats and dead on lyrics. Old school and new school. Should be the Webster's Dictionary definition of hip-hop. Buy it. Buy all the Kids.

RapConQueso.com Review
Full review is available at [...] but to summarize:When Fish Ride Bicycles is a really good album. Of course, it has that heavy bass, '88 style we heard on Bake Sale, but it's apparent that Pharrell (or The Neptunes) had a hand in this album. And that is a GOOD thing!

4 stars vast improvement & growth
I thought this album would sound mostly like their ep "The Baked Sale" or their mixtapes. But the beats sound very Mello and the lyrics sound much improved. I loved Asher Roth's verse on "Roll Call" he absolutely posesses the best verse on this album, I actually think Asher Roth & Chuck English (1/2 of Cool Kids, the half that produces) share a great chemistry together somthing I notice on "Fat Raps Remix" from Big Sean's Finally Famous Vol. 3. But anyway the Cool Kids make feel good music & swag rap, and they do it with high efficency. One bad thing about this album is that when you listen Sir Michael Rocks two Mixtapes this year you realize Mikkey dumbs hisself down for Chuck's beats but that leads me to another conclusion Chuck english is the third best rapper from detroit currently & one of the best producer/rappers out right now as he absolutely beast his own beats. Two best rappers from the "D" of course are Eminem (who's regressing) & Elzhi but Chuck deserves reconigtion most defenitely. The Cool Kids obvisously have the respect of their peers as Ghostface Killah(wu co-signs mean alot),Pharrell (Star Trak co-signs mean alot too ask Big Sean OR Kelis) & Bun B appear on this album. "Penny Hardaway" is one of my favorite songs this year too, The beat sounds different from most of Chuck's past synth heavy beats & Ghost Kills his spot. Being from Chicago I thought that the group PROJECT MAYHEM, whom the cool kids work with were more deserving of the spot light but the Cool Kids hold their own and since the world sees them as a Chicago group I say they did the city proud. Chuck english's persona is in the mold of raekwon circa 94' when everyone was stealing rae's style & swagger. He alone is the reason this album needs it's just due, listening to "Summer Jam" off this album thinking sky's the limit for both these young men if they keep maturing.

The coolest in hip-hop
This album can only be described as a classic. Sir Michael Rocks and Chuck Inglish's debut has a classic hip-hop feel but with a modern and unique touch. The lyrics are sharp, the production is excellent and the features are all enjoyable. For anyone who likes a side of hip-hop that is smooth, different, cool and carefully prepared then this album must be listened to. In fact, all fans of hip-hop should give this album a listen. If it wasn't for The Cool Kids then rappers like Mac Miller, Tyler The Creator, Childish Gambino and many others in the alternative side of hip-hop wouldn't be around today.
