great product
I got this for my 3 year old, who is into gymnastics. This is the perfect balance beam for her to practice on at home. She also loves putting the pieces together, taking them apart, and putting them back together again. The bright colors are fun too! I really appreciate the quality. The pieces feel very durable, and I think we will get lots of use out of this for years to come. I also love that this product stores very easily. When not in use, I can tuck it away inside the box it came with...it's very compact an doesn't take up much room (very key when you are trying to not let your house be taken over by toys!). I wish the price was a bit lower so I could buy a couple more Gonge products to go with this. But "you get what you pay for" right? That is definitely true with this product. Highly recommend!

Endless Fun
We love our Gonge River Set! This was a gift for my 3 year old and she took to it like a fish to water. It is very sturdy, the colors and very bright and easy to assemble. After my child mastered walking across the river heel to toe, she began to use it for other purposes (building and pretending a section is something else like a shovel, car or flower). Another plus is the rubber on the bottom of each piece, they have not left any marks on our wood floors even after being dragged across the room. I would definitely recommend this toy.

beautiful product but didn't work for carpeted home
there's nothing wrong with the product. its beautifully made. no extra plastic burs, no sharp edges, smooth plastic all around. the bottom is rubberized for nonslip on tiles or hardwood floors. i was able to play too. i'm 185 lbs and i was able to walk on the balance river set.they link up to each other through the circle ends. it works really well on hard flat surfaces but when you use it on carpet there's an issue. when my kids step on one piece because the carpet is soft that piece their stepping on lift's up and out of the circle and out of the one it's connected to. my kid is 3 and he's 35 lbs. if he's stepping right at the end of one of the pieces it'll left out of the circle connection and we'll have to realign it.its not a bad product. good quality, beautifully made but it's like $70 bucks for 6 pieces of plastic. i dont think its worth it. even if i didn't have an issue with it. just too expensive for 6 pieces of plastic. each one is about 1 foot.

Great and portable balance beam!
These are expensive, but awesome. They work extremely well on carpet or hardwood or tile or whatever type of flooring you likely have in your home. My toddler son loves them and they help out a lot with his physical therapy. He can walk across, side to side, or even cross his legs (with some assistance). You can make them straight or even make them wavy. It makes about a six foot or so path. My son can even put them together. They stack up so well so they don't take up a lot of space and can be setup again in less than a minute. Now to try to save up for the stones and hilltops!

a winner!
Not only does this make a great balance beam, but the interesting shapes and colors tempt the children to use them otherwise ... making it a multi-function toy. It is easy for a pre-schooler to put together and take apart and get back in the box or onto the shelf. We have other Gonge toys, and this lives up to our expectations. it is solidly made, and could stand many hours of active play, even in a group setting.

Great to teach balance
As a former preschool teacher, the mother of 3 children and 5 grandchildren, I know how young children can have trouble getting the wiggles out during the winter months when they can't get outside. This toy, along with the River Stones made by the same company, will do just that! I can't wait to give them to my grandson for Christmas!

Costly, but worth it.
These are expensive, but well worth the cost. SUPER durable item, with rubber non-skid bottoms and fun colors. They even have connectors to send them in different directions.

they are very good for sensory exercises I think
It's been interesting to watch my boy interact with these things, which I simply call "steps."He's got a mild/moderate case of ASD, and so after much research/therapy appointments and hanging out with my only child, I bought these things as a sort of centerpiece for a home sensory gym.I wasn't quite sure how they'd work out, but now +30 days later, I feel it was worth it.These steps are super-sturdy and well-made, at home on either the hardwood floor inside my home, the brick patio out back, or my coated & primed garage floor, the Gonge steps never slip under his weight! What's more, they are very good for sensory exercises I think, even if I was nervous that they seemed to encourage stacking-like behavior (front to back). I like them for this because my boy imitates me and his therapists on them...."Whoaaaa...whoaaaa!" he says as he balances his way across them.Lately I've been mixing them in with some colored foam floor mats! We regularly hop onto them and onto a certain colored floor mat under or near them.Overall, I think they're probably priced about $5 more than they should be, but I'm considering some more, so there you have it!
