Q: Why is it traditionally called a "Crying Pitcher" in Anatolia?

In ancient Anatolian culture, these unglazed clay pitchers slowly "sweat" moisture through their porous walls. These tiny water droplets resemble tears, which earned the vessel its historic and poetic nickname, the "crying pitcher."

Q: Why does the pitcher seem to be leaking even though there are no cracks?

It’s not leaking, it’s breathing! Because the terracotta is intentionally unglazed, the natural clay remains completely porous. Water slowly seeping to the outer surface is a built-in feature of the material, not a defect.

How does the clay naturally purify the drinking water?

The micro-pores in the clay body act as a natural filtration system. As water interacts with the terracotta, it filters out minor sediments and impurities, reduces chlorine taste, and naturally balances the water's pH for a crisper, fresher flavor.

After using the pitcher, white spots or residue appeared on the outside surface. What is this?

This natural, harmless "efflorescence" is just trace minerals left behind as water evaporates. It proves your pitcher's filtration is working perfectly! Simply wipe it clean with a damp cloth.
