You Know How Your Grandchildren Are Selfish?
Toddlers. Soooo cute. But they LOVE that word MINE and when we were all at the OTHER grandmother’s house and she pulled out her cotton candy machine I had HOPES of getting some fresh cotton candy (which is so tender) but her home machine was kept pretty busy producing small cones for the three grandchildren (we were learning.) Eventually they gave me my own cotton candy, but the two year old immediately commandeered it after I pinched off one tiny bite, and I think it’s undignified for a 65 year old Grandma to take (cotton) candy (back) from a baby. Fast forward to my prepping for an upcoming visit to OUR house. (We are four hours away.) I got on Amazon and ordered this cotton candy machine because it had high marks and over 1,000 reviews. I also thought I should try it out beforehand to make sure it worked properly before the children arrived. I bought the one with five flavors and I used pink vanilla. My first attempt wasn’t so good, but i used a wooden chopstick to knock loose that pink melted sugar you see on the inner rim. I then scraped it together and reloaded it into the spinner, added a bit more sugar, and had another go. And because the grandkids aren’t here yet I ate the results of my experiments and satisfied my craving (I mean, jeez, you forget it’s just pure sugar—a little goes a long way.) Clean up was pretty easy—mainly just water and a little soap. I got some Qtips and wiped up most of the bits that fell through the screen into the heated area. It looks like you can undo a bunch of screws to take the screen off to better clean this motorized part but that would be a hassle. I left the machine cooling on the counter for over an hour and returned to find the sugar ants had surfaced from wherever they come from, so next time I will wash up as soon as it cools off. I think this machine is going to be fun to own.

Impossible to clean but great customer service
The description says easy to use and clean. I have only used it twice and cleaned after each use but it is impossible to get the hardened candy from between the coils. It gets pretty hot so not something a young child can make on their own.***update: the product is difficult to clean but customer service is important and they reached out to me immediately to see how they could help and even offered a refund so its a great company

No real problems with the setup, process, or clean up whatsoever.
I don't know what the people who have left negative reviews were expecting. My experience was 100% positive. Here's my list of why:1. I didn't even notice until I had made a mountain of cotton candy, but inside the box was a card with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.2. Nothing is left out. The kit is complete. And what makes it special is that you get MUCH more than a teaser. You realistically get enough cotton candy supplies to enjoy over and over again.3. Simple design was easy to assemble and required no tools to put the 4 pieces together.4. Making the only confectionery creation more heavenly than sugar is a messy task. This machine cleans up with water and a damp cloth. Side note: I was able to make so much candy I literally couldn't eat any more and only had to wash the floss head and basin 1 time during and once after I was done. Here's what I would have changed:1. The top guard is worthless. It gets in the way of having enough room to position the cone to most effectively remove the floss before the head contacts the deposited candy and pulls it back toward the center which starts the mess that'll need to be dealt with eventually. My tip is to make a 3 sided enclosure like a voting booth to guarantee the stuff is contained, or like me just have fun with it and realize that it's cotton candy from your kitchen. It's going to make a mess. Make the kids clean it up. (FYI there was no floss that I could see escape the lower basin. With that in mind, and if it was my decision, I would get rid of the top and make the bottom basin larger.2. The cord is short. Copper is expensive so I get it, it just is slightly inconvenient.3. Making nice looking fluffy clouds of wonderful spun sugar takes a little trial and error to learn to do. I think that every person who has been tasked with making cotton candy would show you a different method so learning buy reading, and I'm sure trying to teach people how through written language, is a stumbling block. I have no solution for this problem. All I can say is that the more candy on the paper cone the easier it is to collect new candy so dont worry if starting is troublesome. Keep trying you'll figure it out.Overall I wish I had purchased this a long time ago because I am going to get the most out of it. Birthdays, holidays, Mondays, Tuesdays, etc. will never be without the possibility of a normally rare treat. Have confidence in the fact that you can do this, and get over yourself and realize that sometimes the mess is worth the experience. Enjoy.

A little disappointed in this
I was excited to order this. It definitely requires at least a 10 minute warm up instead of the 3 minutes listed. The issue I am finding is that it works great for the first cotton candy made, then after that it goes downhill to the point of not producing enough to fill a cone. I am unsure if it is the machine or the candy provided

Lots of flavors
This is so much fun for the kids and easy cleanup. I really thought this would be a mess but it's not. It's so much fun for the kids if the family gets together or for a party. I bring it out for a treat on the weekends for the kids. We really enjoy it. The flavors are awesome!
