Is this shampoo supposed to be gritty? There are small granules throughout. Did I get a defective bottle? If not, what are they?

I’ve never experienced grittiness in this shampoo. It’s not supposed to lather hardly at all, so that’s normal. I’d try shaking the bottle up and then see if it’s still gritty. It may be that it just needs to be mixed from sitting on a shelf. It should be smooth and runny with no grit. It shouldn’t be real thick but be thicker than water. I hope this helps.
