We are pleased to offer our Majicdown sleeping pillows. These pillows have a 100% cotton percale cover, and is filled with 100% REAL gel microfiber. Our pillows are not only hypoallergenic, but they are machine washable as well. Our gel microfiber is a true mimic of down. It is very soft and silky like down, but yet does have some support. While it is not as firm as standard polyester, it is not supposed to be. This gel microfiber is not your standard run of the mill regular hollow siliconized 6 or 7 denier poly that you would find at Walmart or Kohl's. It is a real deal down substitute. .The term "down alternative" is thrown around in the industry (and especially here on Amazon) very loosely. Those loose descriptions are technically not wrong since there is no real definition to the term "down alternative." However, in our eyes, a real down alternative should be: 1. Gel coated to provide a very silky, satin-like feel; 2. A light denier ("microfiber"), which basically means that the fiber is very thin (the microfiber in these pillows range from 0.9-1.4 denier. Competitors "down alternatives" range from 6-15 denier. In a nutshell, the lower the denier, the finer and softer the feel, and the higher the denier, the more coarse it is; and 3. The pillow does not get lumpy and does not clump after a couple weeks of use. Since we use real microfiber and the threads are so short (hence the 0.9-1.4 denier), the threads do not lump together.
