I was replacing a previous driveway alert, which after many years of good service no longer worked because the PIRs were defunct. Of the replacement devices the Guardline system looked to be the best in terms of features and reliability but then I spotted this system. The fact that all the reviews were positive actually made me suspicious. However, the price was so very reasonable and if it was rubbish it would go straight back! There is a reason this is getting good reviews. It works really well and is inexpensive. First good point, batteries are included. The build quality is excellent. There are some design decisions that show this is a well thought out product. For instance, the mounting screws are stainless steel - ideal for outdoor use. The mounting bracket has a brass insert, which again will mean that corrosion will not be a problem and all mounting hardware is provided. Being really really really picky the wall plugs could be better and the included screwdriver should be a crosshead. The receiver plugs straight into a standard outlet and is sized so that it will not obstruct the other outlet in a 2-gang socket or the switches, so no power adaptor and cables. This is REALLY well designed. The instructions are clear and accurate. Setting up the alarm is simplicity itself. Choose a tone (more about these later), hold the volume button for a few seconds, activate the PIR and pairing is complete. There are 52 alarm tones to choose from. In reality, I could only tolerate about 10 of them but if you don't mind musical chimes then there are plenty to choose from and the sound quality is pretty good, you also get a visual alert (in time to the music!). There are four levels of volume control that should suit most people in all but the noisiest environments. Two rooms away, I could still hear the alert above the sound of a boiling kettle. Well-designed, easy to set up but how does it perform? With thick walls and vegetation between the receiver and the transmitter I did not expect to get anywhere near the stated range of 150m. The fact I got half this was a pleasant surprise indeed! This kit has doubled the detection range of my previous system for less than half the price! I do get a very few false alarms caused by birds and squirrels because the main sensor is set low to pick up the heat from vehicle exhausts so this is to be expected. Gales with gusts of more than 70mph produced only a few false alarms from moving vegetation. More importantly the Mydome has registered every vehicle and person entering the property to date. This product really deserves its Amazon Choice rating.

Well designed and built product. Performance wise with regards to reception of wireless signal from the door bell transmitter i have not had any issues but when you deal with wireless signals be it wifi, mobile or door bells and the like localised environmental issues could have an impact on reception range so it is down to trial and error. This is not down to the manufacturer as they design a product to a cost which covers most scenarios. Admittedly things do go wrong with products and manufacturers or their suppliers rely on accurate feedback so can address an occurring issue as in my case. This is where having a UK based company such as Mydome came into its own. A product which i had bought developed a fault a couple of days outside Amazons return period. I contacted Mydome directly who provided in my opinion an outstanding customer service. The person to whom i had spoken too was extremely helpful, very clear, articulate and knew his product knowledge. Anything outside his scope i was invited to email the company and my query would be relayed onto the relevant department for addressing. MyDome has an 18 month product guarantee and lifetime product technical support. They satisfactorily resolved my issue but what struck me was their ethos relating to customer service which i fully understand. My ethos is to maintain a mutual customer - client respect. No one is always right but we learn from one another to progress. To conclude, i have no affiliation to this company other than PURCHASING their products through Amazon and just an ordinary person who appreciates good customer service and also who had provided it, where possible, during my working life.

I got this sensor for advance warning for people coming up the driveway. It's very easy to use with 50 chimes to sequence through before deciding on which one to use. Positioning the sensor to focus back up and across intended detection area is key - it's effective so you don't want unnecessary activations from passing cars etc outside the property. So far it's working very well. We've had a few spurious detections from birds landing on the driveway but that gives a reassurance that the sensor is working as intended.

Despite only paying for a 3-4 day delivery the product came the next day exceeding my expectation. The product was well packaged and instructions clear. The ringer is easy to fix and slender enough to fit the door jamb. I chose the black item to show up against our white paint. The ringers are quite small allowing the 2nd socket of a double electric socket to be used with little trouble. The ring has 4 loudness settings, the loudest being more than adequate to be heard throughout the house. I have kept to the standard ring and have not tried the other ring tones so cannot comment on them. I am very pleased with the product and recommend it.

Whats not to like? These units are brilliant! But just one minus: All these type of OUTSIDE units share one fault: They do not like blustery, wet weather! Use under eaves or in a fairly secure weather location. One other point: I tried to put a clear piece of perspec in front of sensor (to avoid worse, wet weather) but it does not respond through the perspex! Very "perspexing" considering I would have thought these units would work in that situation! Does anyone else have similar info?
