Polishing is required. Casting part line is in the middle of doing where the slide rubs. Casting line comes up on one side of the ball up and over the point and down the other side of the ball. I used 600 grit to remove casting line from ball and point. Then finished with 2000 grit to polish. Under close inspection the ball is a bit rough, pits, from the cast. Luckily not where it counts.

This part works fine in my 1911 and I will buy more of them from this good, reliable seller, Klonimus. If your slide is sticking a bit when drawn to the rearward position it might be a disconnector problem. My 1911 is now running smoothly with this new part.
