Important read
I liked how the author tackled this very difficult subject matter. I’m not one for shielding my kid’s from other perspectives or tough realities so I like how the book left certain things open for discussion and analysis.

Good read
This book is a little dark. It’s about a family selling things in order to move into a smaller home. It’s good for teaching children that not everyone is as fortunate as they are.

Ends Sad. Parents may need to discuss potential positive outcomes
The story ends sad. The little girl tries to make the best of the situation, but still has a great deal of uncertainty in the end. As a parent, be ready to elaborate on potentially positive outcomes if you’re moving & your child needs reassurance about the future

Five Stars
Great book and pretty emotional, even to my son that's almost 10 years old.

Gentle and moving.
Eve Bunting handles a family's downsizing sensitively and gently showing us that it is who you have and not what you have that makes a home.

Sad but sweet
As with many of Eve Bunting's books, this story is told in first person from a child's eyes about a difficult life decision for adults to make. It shows how helpless and confusing these adult choices and decisions can make children feel, but ends with a hopeful tone. Many of her books are this way, and really explores how kids can indeed cope with life traumas if they feel included and heard.
