The task of the Romans, according to Virgil, was to govern the world under their dominion, ‘to establish civilisation where there was peace, to grant mercy where there was submission and to crush by war where there was defiance’. Their occupancy of ancient Britain with an army numbering tens of thousands, lasted over four centuries. At the same time as the Romans commenced their departure from ancient Britain, an army of Votadini Celts were advancing from the north towards what is now Wales. What was the purpose of this manoeuvre and who was the leader of this army of Celts? The Indo-European migration marked an important event in the history of mankind - the beginning of an ancient epic journey. The Asiatic Society in Bengal discovered a link between the modern-day Welsh language and other branches of the Indo-European group of languages. Of modern-day languages, we learn that the one closest to ancient Hebrew is Welsh. What influences did we inherit from our ancestral line which included the Agathyrsai, Picts, Cimmerians and the Dan Tribe. The Celts, of which we are descendants of, comprised of the cultures of the Bell-Beaker, the Corded-Ware (c. 2900 - 2400 B.C.), the Hallstatt from the Late Bronze and Early Iron Age culture and the La Tène who existed from at least as early as the sixth century B.C. continuing until the Roman conquest. How accurate has the advancement of DNA analysis assisted in determining our ancestral links?. We are of the Steppes of Europe, of ancient Sumeria, of Mesopotamia; we were part of the creation of the Indus Valley civilization, the earliest known urban culture of the Indian subcontinent; we were the Cimmerians; we became the Brythonic; our language is the oldest of European languages in modern-day use; we were the Votadini Celts, we are Welsh. We have come home - to Wales.
