Gingerbread Man

This adorable book is wonderfully written and the pictures are very cute. I would recommend this book to children over 18mo. This is the one where the Gingerbread man is made in the oven by a little old lady who wanted a child and it ran away and in the end it gets eaten up by a fox who was having the gingerbread trust him to get across the river. I highly recommend this book. My husband was more excited about this bk when it came in the mail,than our daughter because you really don't see this version around anymore.

The book is a nice quality and I was pleased with the illustrations. My only gripe is that I was a little disturbed by the last page where it actually shows multiple pictures of the fox eating the gingerbread boy. I know that's how the story ends and certainly didn't expect that to change, but in the version of the book I had as a kid it didn't actually show the fox eating the boy. I know I shouldn't take the story too seriously and I really try not to be an overprotective mother, but it was a little tough explaining the visual dismemberment of the boy to my 3-year-old son.

I was looking everywhere for the classic book that I read as a child about the gingerbread man. I finally found this one and it is wonderful. My son loves it! Any child's collection is not complete without this.

The book was better than expected. It's large enough to interest the little folks I bought it for. It was sent promptly.

My kiddo and I love to sit together, snuggle in, read this book, and sing the refrain together! The book is beautifully done. It also gives parents a chance to sit together with their child(ren) and actually discuss the concept(s) of the book: It's a great way to discuss real vs. fantasy...and a way to make sure that they are comprehending and digesting the real points of the story...after all, the Gingerbread Man is a COOKIE! Now, when we eat gingerbread man cookies, my kiddo cries, "Snap!" and then takes a bite!

I bought this book for my grandaughter about 18 mounths ago. It was her favorite book at our house for a very long time. Now I am ordering it for 3 of my great nephews. The book is delightful. The time honored version is printed on quality paper, nicely bound and beautifully illustrated. I highly recommend it.

I purchased this book to read with my class and must say it's a great adaptation of this traditional tale. It contains simple text with the traditional refrain (the gingerbread mans song "run run as fast as you can you can't catch me in the gingerbread man!") and not over wordy, making it easy to follow for young children, whilst offering them a chance to join in with the story. The book has lovely illustrations. We particularly liked the animals especially the fox at the end (even if he did eat the gingerbread man!). The use of mathematical language of fractions wat the end of the story when the sly fox was eating the gingerbread man was also great and even though it was advanced thinking for the age group of the children in my class, we were still able to discuss this and also led to ideas for other mathematical learning connected to the story.Although we thoroughly enjoyed this book, I would have to state that the is small making the illustrations hard to share with a class group of children. However, this version of he tale is a viable alternative if an educational big book is unavailable. I would definitely recommend buying this book. If reading in a class or educational establishment I would recommend this book for Foundation Stage or Key Stage 1 children.I always submit an open and honest review of the product I'm buying which is based on my own personal consumer experience. Bought The Gingerbread Man for my Goddaughter for Xmas. This particular edition is brand new and a lovely quality book. Very clearly worded and beautifully illustrated. Ideal for young learners!

Classic tale of the gingerbread man. Lovely pictures

My two year old, who loves gingerbread men and women, loves this book which is very nicely illustrated. I know some of these old fairy tales are a bit dark but couldn't remember exactly how this ended when I ordered it. Having now re-discovered the not-so-happy finale to this story I can't help feeling the desire to skip the last few pages every time I read this to my son!

Run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man.If I never hear that phrase again it will be too soon. :D
