As-new bargain. And it’s easy enough to add the Google Play Store
I’ve bought refurbished Fire tablets on offer a few times and am happy to do so when a refurbished version looks as though it were new and at time of writing can be picked up for only a little over £70. This is an upgrade on a model I picked up last year that’s still going strong and in regular use. The newer version has 50% more memory, but is otherwise very familiar. This is a pretty solid, large screen tablet. The housing is all-plastic rather than metal. However, the plastic is a good, solid, thick version. The screen is lovely. It doesn’t have the crispness of an iPad or a Samsung Galaxy A8 tab, but has good resolution and clarity which far exceeds the current bargain price point. This is great for everyday use as a web browser. My Mum loves it for game play (she plays a lot of mystery-type games, so nothing she’s doing is precisely a strain on graphics capabilities, although these can get quite space/RAM hungry). Video playback is excellent, and audio capabilities are decent enough for a tablet. As with previous incarnations of Fire tablet, the camera is not the best. It’s adequate for video conferencing, with reasonable resolution albeit rather muddy-looking colours, particularly under artificial light. For stills photography it’s not brilliant. Images, regardless of light conditions, tend to appear quite murky and low resolution. There are a number of reviews/comments in response to questions slating this for the fact it doesn’t have the Google Play Store, but only an Amazon version which reduces flexibility and options. Whilst it is true that the Play Store isn’t preinstalled, it isn’t hard to add it and gain most of the functionality associated with this. There are loads of good online installation walkthroughs.Default search engine is Bing, but it’s easy enough to change this to a preferred option via the Settings menu - this step is necessary for adding Google Play installation files.Ads only appear on the Lock Screen, but if you find this annoying there is an option to pay an extra £10 charge to have these removed (accessible via Content and Devices in My Account).

Amazing condition.
Great product for the price. Had an older model for 8 year old where screen got damaged so thought I would get a newer one. Slightly faster and smoother, does the job, YouTube, Disney, Netflix, prime etc, app store, all great for what is needed.

Very good device for the price
I wanted a tablet as a backup for my ipad which if it got bashed i wouldn't be overly concerned about it.Amazon had these devices for £65 on Prime day so i took a punt on it thinking i could pass it on to my daughter if it didn't suit me.It was a refurbished device and came in a plain box rather than a retail box but it came with all the accessories need to get it up and running (charger and cable). You wouldn't think it was refurbished. The screen was perfect and not marked and there was no damage to the outer case either so to all intents and purpose it was like having a brand new device.Setup was a breeze and there were no issues when going through the setup process.Screen is lovely and bright - not as good as ipad but it cost a fifth of what an ipad would cost.Performance was much better than i expected. All apps i tried opened up fine in good time and worked as well as their ipad counterparts. When using internet and apps it's not as smooth as using an Ipad but again you have to take into consideration the price difference. The battery is lasting very well and doesn't seem to be running down quickly even when its being used.As an everyday tablet for basic work i would highly recommend this device. I was a bit dubious about how it would perform but it has surprised me and exceeded my expectations. The ads on the lockscreen haven't been intrusive and don't increase the time it takes to unlock the device.Video and sound are fine for me and for me at this price point you get what you pay for.

Refurb but you wouldn't know it
Cannot recommend one of these enough. I was contemplating getting a brand new one but opted for a refurb version to save a bit of money. Glad I did, as you wouldn't be able to tell. It arrived in perfect condition. Battery life is exceptional and performance is great. Feels like I'm only charging it a couple of times a week. The only reason it loses a point is due to the software on there. I know it's an Amazon device so needs to integrate with those services but the lack of the Google Play store on an android device is basically unforgivable at this point. You can install it on there and it's a bit of a pain but you can find some guides online on how to do it which I highly recommend. It would just be a lot easier if you could load it via the Amazon app store.

Cheap and cheerful
Obviously it is not a tablet for heavy duty work processers but It is an excellent tablet for this price ,fast enough and has a good screen resolution for watching YouTube and general stuff like emails. All in all it works for what I want it for.
