Excellent pocket book for 3rd year medical student
Currently using this book for my IM rotation at the start of my 3rd year of medical school and it has served me very well. A couple of attendings have asked me "what book is that? It looks really useful for a med student." This book is written if full sentences with useful images (XRs, diagrams, EKGs etc), occasional abbreviations and has much more detail than the Pocket Medicine book that is so popular among Residents (which is nearly entirely abbreviations and shorthand, great for a resident, but intimidating for some students). The style of writing is very readable and actually entertaining, they begin each chapter with a picture, often of a famous Oxford physician in the field to give you some history of that specialty of medicine. Some may think this is superfluous, but the Brits do a good job of keeping the book both interesting and informative this way. It is a surprisingly enjoyable book to simply flip through and learn the important takeaways and history of Brown-Sequard syndrome. The chapter of Eponyms is one of my favorites. The book is slightly bulky in my white coat pocket, but you get used to it, I find myself referring to even before UpToDate often since the Oxford book is actually written for a 3rd/4th year student, and gives a quicker and more direct explanation. There are various idiosyncrasies in how medicine is practiced in the UK compared to the US, the most noticeable of which is how most labs are reported in different units, so make sure to hold on to the bookmark provided that lists the conversions! I write the conversions on applicable pages (like mm Hg to kPa conversion)

Shipping method almost insures damage to the cover of the book by the time you get it
Vinyl covered reference book, not hardback - exactly what I was expecting. Content obviously excellent. Problem is with shipping. Since this is essentially a soft cover book it’s prone to bending and other damage due to shipping. My copy came on time, but the THIN bubble wrap envelope used to ship did not protect the back cover from the obvious puncture that occured with shipping. Since I actually plan to use this book on a daily basis, I’m sure I’m going to put a LOT of milage and abuse on this cover, so it will make no functional difference. BUT, of all the things Amazon ships in way too large boxes to protect them, it would have been a good idea to ship a soft covered book in an appropriately sized box, so I could have had one magnificent day with my new treasured text, before I abuse the cover myself.

Excellent study supplement.
I used this book for bedside teachings and during clinical rounds. It's a quick, easy to read, yet complete reference tool for answering questions on the go. And it gives just the right amount of information on the high yield topics. I highly recommend this, especially for internal medicine rotations.

Content Powerhouse
Really like this book. Contains lots and lots of information. It's a very thick book and has a lot of content in it so I'm not sure how useful it is on wards since it would be tedious to look every little detail up. But it's definitely worth getting to read up on things to review at home. It's a pretty thick book with small font and cramped wording. So if you don't like things so tiny then this might not be for you. The pages are not glossy unlike other books. The binding seems a bit flimsy but time will tell how well it holds.

Very helpful information.
The media could not be loaded. Excellent information for a fast consult or quick review after you study some topic, time for delivery is alright, it arrived with some scratches and some pages folded. I’m a generalist doctor, 100% recommended.
