Why are incorrect reviews (of Splendor) being shown for the new game Splendor Duel?

you see there are 3 choices on this listing? splendor, splendor duel, and splendor & expansion bundle? the reviews are for the listing that WE purchased, not only what YOU have selected.

Can the "splendor duel" version of the game be played in the same way at the original "base game"? Are the pieces or cards significantly different?

The cards are different and refer to the new elements in the game (scrolls, crowns, etc.), so I would say no.
