Hands Down the Best Collar
Hands down the best cat collar I've found to date!My cat and I came to a resolve when she insisted on being an outdoor cat... a collar. I was using various basic collars until I noticed that she was losing fur around her neck. Other times I found crust (as if she scratched it or it rubbed her to rough).Since I spoil her with everything I figured it was time to find the best collar too. Checked [...] and other places and everyone seemed to have collars with hip designs but nothing really to help the irritation if wearing a collar 24/7.This is the collar I have been looking for. It is light and durable. It doesn't tightly wrap around her neck but loops around with the id tag sitting loosely on her chest. It has the breakaway feature so my little huntress doesn't get caught in anything while on the run. I bought 3 more. The Red with blue white speckle is adorable. :)Her fur is growing back and she is at her happiest... and I have one less thing to worry about :)P.S.: There have been complaints on other reviews about the collar not 'breaking away' - they fixed that some time ago so it snaps off easily.

Very happy with it after 8 years!
Our cat has had this collar for 8 years now (purchased in 2008) and it never left her neck for 8 straight years. It doesn't rub at the neck and damage the fur or the skin. Even after 8 years of continuous use, when I lift up or slide away the collar, I can see that the fur and skin underneath are perfectly healthy. The collar is holding up great! Got a bit "hairy" as filaments from the material got pulled out by her tongue when she grooms herself and inadvertently licks the collar as well, but that actually makes the collar look more "natural" and blend better with her fur... So not a big deal for me. I don't have any complaints at all. And today, for the first time, its functionality came to the test. Our cat is indoors only, so she doesn't roam around getting tangled in bushes outside, but I got her this collar for "just in case". And I'm glad I did! Today she got the tag ring of her collar caught on some furniture and got stuck, but all it took was for her to flail once or twice and the collar came right off! The cat wasn't hurt, the emotional trauma was minimal and she even let me put the collar back on her right after that. It even prompted me to come back and write a review for it, after having it for so many years!

Classy looking functional collar
I ordered this collar because I didn't like the looks/design of the kitty collars I found in the pet stores. Also, at the time my kittens (I have two) were only 12 weeks old, so I was looking for a collar that would adjust with their growth. I'm happy to report that this collar (I ordered two, in different colors) has been great. Even the vet noticed the collar and remarked how neat it is. The collar looks really sharp and has a nice sized metal loop for hanging an ID tag, etc. Both kittens took to this collar just fine (it was their first collar) and I have been able to let the collar out a bit as they've grown. I also like the fact that there's no "extra collar" hanging out past the buckle -- the collar just forms a big loop around the kitty's neck. The only issue I've had is one of the collars is a bit hard to adjust -- but overall I've been very pleased.

If your cat doesn't mind wearing a collar this will probably work fine. It is nice and lightweight
Doesn't really work well for my cat - though not necessarily as a result of any design flaws. If your cat doesn't mind wearing a collar this will probably work fine. It is nice and lightweight, and I don't think it would mat hair down the way a flat collar would. If your cat doesn't like wearing a collar, it is fairly easy for them to take it off. I found that my cat was able to get out of it within a few hours every time I put it on her. I adjusted the tightness several times and it didn't really seem to make a difference. I have doubts that the metal rings are comfortable around the cats neck, and the breakaway design may be too loose.

Best Cat Collar Ever!
I have been purchasing these collars for our indoor/outdoor cats for a few years and I'll never order another type. They do break away and that is why I have to reorder. When a cat comes home without one I know it did its job. They are so unobtrusive that the cats adjust to them immediately (and they've escaped from many collars) and they're sturdy enough to hold an id tag and the microchip tag.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
I ordered 2 of these collars recently. one is almost 2" smaller than the other although they are "one size" fits all. THEY DO NOT BREAK AWAY when snagged. I like the thinness, but it could kill your cat!

It sure does "break away" !
My 5-month old kitten rid himself of this collar within the first 20 seconds after I put it on him. I thought I might have put it on a little too loose, but after readjusting so that one finger fit snugly between it and his neck and putting it back on him, it took all of 10 minutes for him to just snap it off without any effort. The fastening itself is not weak as it takes about the same strength to open as the Coastal Pets SafeCat fastener which this same kitten wasn't able to get off...Also, for a somewhat slimmer cat, the whole fastening is a little too long to fit neatly around the neck I think. So no, I wouldn't recommend it to people with sturdy outdoor cats, and certainly not with a Bombay kitten;).

Great Customer Service
This collar is particularly good for cats with big neck ruffs--it is very thin, and the rounded design helps prevent mats. It also has a breakaway function for the cat's safety, which I can certify works. I actually had a problem with the collar, but I contacted National Leash's customer service about it, and they could not have been more friendly and helpful. Service like that is all too rare these days, and deserves some recognition!
