I work as a substitute teacher and at times I need to bring my own sharpener when I find that the classroom one is worn out. This Wendel works great for little students' hands who tend to be pencil grinders. And I give them a 'pencil sharpening 101' quick lesson. Telling them to 'twist' the pencil while sharpening to make it faster and more even. One thing that learned from one teacher that put a HUGE note on her side load sharpener was NO PAPER COVERED pencils. For they dull the blades and jam the inside with paper. I did not realize that and follow her rules as well. Those fancy foil and paper covered pencils are brutal to sharpeners, even an excellent one like this one. And good quality CEDAR wood pencils are the best.

Very nice pencil sharpener. High speed. Very sharp blades. Good variety of holes for different sized pencils. The little openings right behind the holes hold your pencils or scissors or things shaped like that really well. Holds a good bit of shavings before you need to dump it. Very portable. It has a nice heavy weight to it that gives it a nice sturdy feel. I like that it stops wen my pencils are sharpened so my color pencils are not eaten alive. So ++ with sharpening color pencils even the crappy ones. It's a little pricey in my opinion but that didn't stop me from buying a second one especially when they were out of stock for a little while. But I would recommend it for sure.

I am taking a "Colored Pencil College" class with Sandra Angelo, who recommended this product. To hone my skills, I am practicing vignettes and full compositions over and over again. This machine accomodates all pencils I use for this class, and other artwork I do which require very sharp points. It is so nice to be able to put the pencil in and have it sharpened immediately and accurately. It is sturdy and sits solidly on my desk. The waste bin holds a lot so you don't waste time emptying it all the time

Awesome pencil sharpener! Works very well and it is really quiet for a pencil sharpener.

As an artist, my pencils need to be sharp, and this does it for me, quickly & easily, without "eating" the pencils. However, it's recommended in the instructions not to sharpen colored pencils - this was not mentioned in the ad, and I have to sharpen my colored pencils by hand. This is a drawback for me, but I'll keep it.

Great pencil sharpener. Love the sizing options, the shavings holder is so big I havent emptied it since I bought it 6 months ago and we use it everyday for 2 Children's writing assignments. Also love how it has a holder for pencils. Real space saver.

The instructions that came with the sharpener state that “ the red indicator light will illuminate” at the end of the sharpening cycle. I do not see a red light whatsoever. Is this an error in the instructions that cane with the unit or does this unit have a red indicator light. Either way, knowing the actual features of the sharpener would be helpful.

I bought this sharpener on Jan. 2nd. I used it Jan. 7 for the first time, noise yes, yes, yes. My pencil never sharpened. See the photo. Buy it again, not at this time. We
