Easy to use
Works wonderfully! I never used one of these before, but I had a small project that involved cutting small backsplash tiles. I figured for the price it was worth the small investment. The first tile I tried it on cut perfectly and easily. Made a (pardon the pun) snap out of the job. Highly recommend!

Does not work. Trying to return
If I could give zero stars I would. My spoon could cut tile over this .

Challenging to use
This was very difficult to use to cut the tile we needed to cut. We had to try many times to get it to cut. Maybe it isn't made for the thickness of tile we had but it should say that on the description.

Great for subway tile backsplashes, but respect its limitations (No Porcelain!)
I picked up this QEP handheld cutter for a small bathroom backsplash project. I didn't want to drag my wet saw out of the garage just to make a few cuts around outlets, and for the price, this seemed like a good manual alternative. After finishing the job, here is the honest breakdown of who this tool is actually for. The Good: Convenience: It is incredibly lightweight. Being able to score and snap a tile right where I was standing (without walking outside to the saw) saved me serious time. The Wheel: The tungsten carbide scoring wheel is surprisingly sharp. It creates a very clean score line on standard glazed ceramic. The Snap: Once you get the technique down, the "jaw" mechanism snaps the tile cleanly about 90% of the time. The cushion grip helps, though your hand will get tired if you are doing a whole room. The Learning Curve (Read this before using): Do not expect to take this out of the package and get a perfect cut on your first try. It requires a specific technique. You have to apply consistent, firm pressure while scoring—but only score ONCE. If you try to run the wheel back and forth multiple times, the glaze splinters and you'll get a jagged break. Score once, place the breaker bar in the center, and squeeze. The Limitations (Why I took off 1 star): You need to read the fine print. This is rated for ceramic wall tile up to 1/4" thick. Do not use this on Porcelain: Porcelain is too dense. I tried it on a scrap piece of floor porcelain just to test it, and it wouldn't snap cleanly. It just shattered. Size Limits: The packaging says 6x6 inches. I found that 3x6 subway tiles are the sweet spot. Anything larger than 6 inches is hard to get enough leverage on with a handheld tool. Verdict: If you are doing a kitchen backsplash with standard white ceramic subway tiles, this tool is a winner. It produces less mess than a wet saw and costs less than a rental. However, if you are doing a floor install or using stone/porcelain, do not buy this—rent a proper table cutter or wet saw instead.

Great for snapping narrow tile cuts
I already had a 14 inch manual ceramic tile cutter, but it could not cut less than 2 inches. I bought this because I needed to cut a 1 inch strip off of some tiles. I use the larger tile cutter to score my ceramic tile and then this device to snap off the narrow strip. The larger cutter is easier to use for a snap because it has a long arm that allows for more leverage, but this device seems to be a little gentler with the snap. I practiced a bit on some scrap tiles to get comfortable with the technique. It requires a pretty hard squeeze, but worked great for what I needed.

Tuile cutter usage
This tile cutter works like a champ. I had to replace some 2"x2" waterline tiles on my SPA and needed to cut a few pieces. You scribe ONCE with the wheel, line up the cut line with the notch on the black part and voila, the tile snaps when you press down. Perfect cut.
