PuROTwist PT4000T36-GOLD reverse osmosis system utilizes a 4 stage filtration process to deliver the highest quality drinking water. Stage 1 is a 5 micron sediment filter that removes sand, dirt, sediment, and other particles. Stage 2 is a pre-carbon filter that protects the RO membrane from sediment and chlorine. Stage 3 is the reverse osmosis membrane to remove dissolved inorganic materials. Stage 4 is a post carbon filter to improve taste and odor of drinking water.

System works fine if you don't use that much water
The replacement filters are about $100 total, and you have to find these o-rings that are a pain to find. Most filter stores don't have them. With new filters I can get almost a gallon in one sitting, but gradually that volume declines until I get less than two cups of water, and it takes hours to get more pressure. We basically just use our refrigerator for filtered water now. Never have any issues with that.

Almost 4 stars
So, the system works great. I am actually doing this review after 5 years of great service. I have changed out my filters every 12 months and membranes every 24 months. My biggest problem to this point had been making sure that I purchased the correct filters, which are Q5633 and Q5605. Yes, you do need 2 Q5633 filters. One is the pre-filter and one is the post-filter. The Q5605 is the carbon filter, but it is oddly named the Dirt and Sand Reduction filter. The membrane is the Q56-50FC. There were reviews complaining that the filter size is incorrect, but if you read the manual it is the need for the replacement of the o-rings (1" H-118 and 3/8" H-011). You can buy a $50 kit on-line or do what I did and spend $10 a Lowes. This is why I am at 3 stars. This may sound petty, but you have an almost $400 system that requires about $100 in maintenance a year just in filters and you still want to hit me for $50 on an o-ring kit. That is not completely fair on my part, because it does include a sanitizer kit, and I only needed to do it after 4 years of service. The other reason for the 3 stars is that the canisters are too close together in the 4-stage system. The manufacturer reused the same footprint from their 3-stage system. I get it, but I said a few things that I shouldn't have because of slippery hands in a tight spot. On the tight spot, consider putting this in an easy spot to access or provide enough water line to sit comfortably when conducting maintenance. You will need to buy a catch basin and the spigot, but I am good with that because they can't guess where you plan to install this. Mine is in my attic about 30' from the spigot.
