Kool Collar - Small in Blue (Includes one Kool Tube)

I use this, and think it helps. the collar turns and the ice part hangs under the neck. You cant make this snug, because it would be uncomfortable. But i do use it. I turn it back to the top of the neck and you can feel the coolness on their fur.

I really love this collar! I have a black pointer mix who gets hot very easily when we go hiking or sit out on the porch in the summer. I found this product and decided to give it a try and it definitely delivered! I put the Kool Collar on my dog one day when we were out on the porch and instantly he seemed to be more comfortable. He wasn't panting as much and seemed to relax. So as far as how effective it is, I would say very effective!The product itself is a sturdy nylon(?) fabric on one side and mesh on the inside. The Kool tube slips very easily inside the collar and there is an adjustable buckle and strap to customize the fit to your dog's neck. Everything fits well together and works easily. I keep the collar in the freezer with the Kool tubes for extra coldness :)As far as sizing goes, I looked at the measurements and since my dog has a very thin neck, I thought I would try the small. Sadly I think it is way too small for him, as it does not cover his entire neck, a little more than half only. I'm probably going to pick up the medium size before next summer, but at least I'll have this one as a back up! For sizing purposes, my dog is a 45lb pointer mix and the medium would probably be perfect. I would definitely pick up the extra refill pack though because one collar will last an hour or so, depending on how hot it is. Hope your dog enjoys it as much as mine does!

Well now I understand the bad reviews. This is the second Kool collar I have owned. The first was for a bigger dog, so it does not fit my current dog. The first kool collar has a much finer mesh on the back of it, therefore the ice melts at a much slower rate. The ice in that collar would last about an hour and a half to two hours depending on how hot it was. The mesh on the back side on the new collar is barely there. It is wide open so that the ice melts much, much quicker. I don't think this is even worth the bother!

I got this for my mother in Pennsylvania. She got a dog a few years ago. Ever since he was a puppy, my mother takes him for a walk as many as 4 times a day. And like any male dog, he has to mark every tree, bush, & mailbox along the way. Trouble is now he's so conditioned to pooping & peeing in the neighbors' yards, he won't go to the bathroom in his own yard! So now my poor mother has to take him for a walk, rain or shine, every morning, noon, & night. Oh well, at 80 years old, the exercise does her good.Pennsylvania can experience brutally cold winters, but also stiflingly hot summers. Her dog, Buddy, has all black fur. On his summer walks, he would stop under the shade of a bush and lie down. Apparently he thought the walk was over, regardless of the fact they weren't back in their own yard yet.I sent my Mom the collar & a refill pack and told her to try them out. She didn't have high hopes because Buddy always fights her to put on his coat for walks in the winter. But he didn't mind the collar, and it apparently works well enough because he no longer tries to rest under bushes on his hot summer walks.

Or at least I don't think it did. She has a really thick undercoat, such that it's hard to tell if the collar is even in close proximity to her skin. I don't think this collar was designed for Huskies. I wish I could find something that was.

Nice product, just wish it was wider to hold more ice. Don't expect a long time cooling with this size, usually around an hour in hot weather and you will need to refill. Another aspect is it is a bit difficult to load ice, a clumsy design on the opening. But overall I was satisfied with it and it serves its purpose.

i love this cooling collar! i had one last summer but left it in a ferry when i was with my dog! i have a pug and he can't be out in heat for more than 10 minutes. this collar does not at all extend the amount of time he can be kept outside but it does make it more comfortable for him to be outside when i have to take him out for a quick walk to pee and poop. you just fill it with ice and it drips down his neck. i feel so much better having to take him out in the heat when he has this collar on b/c i know he's the most comfortable he can be. i would 100% recommend this collar to anyone especially who has a breed that does not fair well in extreme heat.

The collar itself is made well enough, but the performance is substandard. The cool pack melts almost immediately and the ice cubes are even worse. I take my dogs on long walks and was hoping this collar would help with the heat, but again, the cool just doesn't last more than minutes.
