This is a great scope for the money
This is a great scope for the money, even at a higher price. I have this mounted on my DPMS Oracle that has a flat-top, and the only thing that I would have liked better, would have been that it had higher profile mounts, but that's my personal preference, as such, this scope is ready to go right out of the box. Sight picture is clear as day, no issues, fully adjustable. Has nice instructions for how to set use the mil-dots, and it comes with a cheat sheet specifically for this scope. Personally, I like the illumination, even though I'll probably never use it at low light, but it's nice to have just in case. My only gripe with this scope is the eye relief. It stays long eye relief, but that's not really the case. I have to be really close to the scope to get a good picture. With a Magpul MOE adjustable stock, I have to set the stock at the halfway point, with the scope mounted so that the eye ring is one rail notch forward of the charging handle. Other wise you "hit" the scope every time you have to pull the charging handle. That's the main reason for wanting a higher profile mount. To those who say they got a dud, unfortunately maybe you got one of the very few duds, unfortunately it can happen regardless of price level or brand. Don't let one bad experience ruin it for you. Send it back, as I'm sure you know, Amazon will refund or exchanges just about anything, and painlessly. Have them send you another and give it a another try. Since I have used the same scope on both a 223/556 AR and a 300 BLK AR, because it has resettable zero points, it's no issue getting back to zero when switching between rifles. The only reason I have not bought a second one of these as a dedicated scope for the 300 BLK is because I'm planning on getting another UTG scope with a higher zoom level for the 223/556 AR and will use this 3x9 on the 300BLK. Just have to decide on which one I want. But I’m sure whichever one I get it will be just as good. And if I get a dud, I know both Amazon and UTG will take care of it. For the record, I've only had this scope for about 2 moths now, but I've used it every Sunday since then; easily shooting 60 to 80 rounds of both 223 & 300BLk each, that's about 120 to 140 rounds an outing, and still holds true. Even with switching between riffles and mucking with the zero adjustments. At 100 yards, set to 9x max, or set to 3x min, I hit the gong repeatedly and consistently in just about the same 2 to 4 inch group. Again, I've had good luck with it so far. If I were you, I’d give another shot, no pun intended.

Leapers UTG 1" BugBuster 3-12X32 Scope: The Short Range Sniper’s Delight
In the vast wilderness of shooting scopes, where size often competes with performance, the Leapers UTG 1" BugBuster 3-12X32 Scope emerges as the mighty mite, packing a punch that would make even the burliest of scopes blush with envy. First off, let's talk about its size. Compact? Absolutely. If this scope were a person, it’d be the scrappy underdog in a boxing movie—small, tough, and ready to surprise everyone with its agility. The BugBuster is like the Chihuahua of scopes: small but fierce, and it doesn’t yap endlessly about its prowess. The short focal length is another winning trait. It’s like the BugBuster is saying, “I don’t need to see your entire life story, just enough to know where to aim.” Perfect for short-range target practice, it gets right to the point without any unnecessary drama. This scope is all about efficiency, like a well-tuned espresso machine—short, strong, and gets the job done with zero fuss. Now, the build quality. This little champ is built like a tank—if tanks were small, sleek, and surprisingly elegant. You could probably drop it, kick it, and use it as a doorstop, and it would still be ready for action. It’s the kind of sturdy that makes you feel like you’re handling a miniaturized version of Thor’s hammer, minus the need to be worthy to lift it. The Side Focus feature is a game-changer. It’s as if the scope is winking at you, saying, “I got this.” Adjusting for clarity is smooth and precise, like a ninja slicing through the fog of visual distortion. You’ll feel like a master marksman, effortlessly bringing your target into crystal-clear focus. Speaking of clarity, the glass on this scope is clearer than your ex’s intentions after a breakup. It’s like peering through the purest mountain spring water, except instead of fish, you’re zeroing in on bullseyes. Whether it’s dawn, dusk, or high noon, the BugBuster serves up a visual feast that will make your targets pop like never before. In conclusion, the Leapers UTG 1" BugBuster 3-12X32 Scope is the best scope I’ve used for short-range target practice. It’s compact, robust, and offers clarity that’s second to none. If scopes were superheroes, this would be the one that looks unassuming but saves the day with style and precision. So, if you’re looking to up your short-range game, grab the BugBuster—it’s a small package that delivers big results. And remember, great things come in small, impeccably constructed, side-focused packages. Ok Sorry, a bit of comedy. But in all seriousness, It;s a great scope for airgun plinking or pesting. The ability to focus down to 3 yards is a must for airguns. Holds zero well. I have already bought 2 of these, and will be getting more.

The Price Makes it Worth Consideration
I first of all need to describe the features on the scope I received because there are so many variants of this scope. Starting at the eyepiece and moving forward, mine: does not have an EZ-TAP Control Panel, has Zero Resetting Windage & Elevation Turrets, has a third turret used as a Reticle Illumination Rheostat, has a Zero Locking Ring on the Windage & Elevation Turrets, has a Mil-Dot Reticle which can be illuminated Red or Green (not 36 color IE), has a Parallax Adjustable Objective lens. It is identical to the one pictured when I bought my scope. Included with the scope were: a set of Quick Disconnect Rings (there are 4 different ring sets available), a 2 inch Sunshade, a pair of lens covers, a battery (and spare) for the illuminated reticle, a cleaning cloth, and three allen wrenches. Bearing in mind that I got this to put on a .22 rifle (Ruger American Rimfire (Target)). The good: The scope has a good quality look and feel to it. The adjustments (Eyepiece, Magnification & Parallax) are smooth and have a comfortable amount of resistance. The Windage & Elevation Turrets are easily adjusted and have noticeable (though only slight) "clicks". Zero Locking Rings (the first I've ever encountered on a scope turret) at the base of the turrets are tightened to keep inadvertent adjustments from being made. 1/2 turn of the ring is all that is required to tighten or loosen the ring. I really like this feature! Another feature I really like (but many will not care about) is the Turret Scale Zeroing feature. Once you have zeroed the scope, you can easily reset the turret visual scale "0" marking to be adjacent with a reference mark on the side of the turret. The optics are very good, though not premium quality. The reticle is crisp and clear (once eyepiece is adjusted) but perhaps a bit on the thick side (especially for a .22). I used the lighted reticle only briefly (I don't expect to use that feature much). It seemed to work fine. I'm so far pleased with the accuracy (having only shot twice with limited types of ammo), but I'm reserving judgement until I do more shooting with it. Now, the not so good: There is nothing that I would consider bad about the scope or accessories, but I did notice the following: It is a compact scope. So, there is limited area for placement of rings and therefore not much room for scope movement fore and aft within the rings (about 3/8" is all). On my rifle (a rifle issue more than the scopes), in order to get the eyepiece in a position to provide proper eye relief I had to use a mount with an offset (the aft ring is about 1 1/2" behind the base of the mount). The objective lens bell is somewhat large. The bell's walls are a bit thick which makes the outside diameter of the bell 46mm. Depending on the receiver of the firearm mounted on, you may need medium or even high rings. As mentioned previously, the reticles are a bit on the thick side (but not ridiculously so) for my particular requirements. I wasn't thrilled with the rings, specifically the Quick Disconnect component. I only used them briefly (had to go with the mount mentioned above), but did have some difficulty getting the Quick Disconnect levers adjusted to the proper tension as described in the manual. They didn't seem to work as explained. The field of view does start to blur around the edges as the magnification is increased. It is noticeable at the 7 thru 9 magnifications. The reticle and target area are not affected, and it's not something I would return the scope for. In closing I would say that although I might have some reservations about using this scope on a larger powered rifle, or routinely in harsh conditions, I would certainly put this scope on another one of my limited use .22 rifles! I will attach a pic for better understanding of the mount I mentioned.

shot through dozens if not hundreds of optics - many of which were illuminated - and this is one of the best illuminated optics
This scope was installed on a Spikes Tactical Dissipator upper with a 16" barrel and picatinny rail. For the price of just over $60, this optic is a steal for three reasons: 1. The glass that UTG uses, while not as clear as the glass that comes in much more expensive optics, is plenty crisp for the avid target shooter. While I wouldn't be inclined to take this big game hunting, this scope would definitely do the job for varmint hunting and holds point of aim very well when detached and stored (my scope came with the QD mounts). 2. The illuminated retical works! I've served four years in the Army, shot through dozens if not hundreds of optics - many of which were illuminated - and this is one of the best illuminated optics I have used. You get two choices, red and green, and can set the intensity from 0-100 in each color. Not only does the color not bleed into the scope (like CCO's are famous for doing), it shows up as very crisp lines allowing for no difference in point of aim from the non-illuminated setting. 3. The price point for this is exceptional. I have a Leupold scope on my 7 mag, an Aimpoint on my AR10, and a ACOG on my M4. While these expensive optics definitely have their advantages, for the price of just over $60, this scope simply cannot be beat. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a mid-range target/varmint scope for their AR or similar picatinny-style rifle, and would have no problem using this over much more expensive scopes as my go-to optic. Summary: this is an excellent mid-range scope that will look great as furniture on any AR-style rifle. The quick-detach mounts work as advertised, and hold zero perfectly. Out of a 16" chrome lined barrel with M855 ball I consistently get .8" groups with this optic, and have gotten as low as half an inch MOA with match grade ammunition (at 100 yds).

Very Good Scope
Because I can't actually touch or feel products I buy on Amazon, product that are important to me I will buy several brands and return the lesser ones. Of the three scopes I tried, this one is a keeper. It was easy to sight in, easy to mount on my air rifle, exceptional optics for the price and compared to the other two. I haven't tried the illuminated reticle, and doubt I will as I see no need to with the optics it already has. I love the quick attachment mount, it is very stable, however, the adjustment screws for the levers could be a little longer as they were near the end of the thread travel on my picatinny. I love the zero locking, I have a pcp air rifle, for hunting I use a high setting of 2900psi, but for target shooting, I use the lowest setting of 1100psi. (as I only have a hand pump to charge the gun). I zero set the scope at 2900, and recorded the elevation adjustment for 1100psi, very handy for air rifles. All shots fall inside of a quarter at 170'. Good enough for hunting backyard varmints. Finally, it does have an adjustable objective, I left it on infinity setting as I am using it on an air rifle, so can't really comment on long range settings. Other nice features, a sun shade extension and flip covers. Really nice buy.

Great scope, great price! Easy to install and set even for the novice!
I finally got to mount this on my new AR and take it for a spin at the range. I applaud UTG for their commitment to their customers. The YouTube videos that accompanied this product were spot on for setting up the scope before it was ever mounted on a rifle. The mirror trick was something I had never heard of and worked GREAT! The magnification is perfect...3-9 worked flawlessly at 25 and 50 yards (will be setting for longer distances in the future) pulling in my target to the point that I could even use the scope to "spot" the holes in the target. Made sighting the scope MUCH easier...less walking and more shooting. :) The red/green crosshairs made them easy to line up in any lighting condition. Note that I used the scope in early morning conditions up through full sun; high humidity. I had no issues with the lenses fogging up...actually no issues at all. First shot was low...and used the elevation to walk the bullet up about a foot. The scope was easily zeroed at 25 yards with three rounds in the center...2 on top of each other. Moved out to 50 and finished with the exact same pattern. The Picatinny mounts are medium height and for my rifle worked great. I could see where an additional, slightly higher set of mounts would be beneficial. However, I was able to mount a set of 45 degree offset iron rear sights under the scope with no issues. The scope mounts are quick release which makes it simple to remove for either cleaning or if you want to use additional optics/sights. I am in no way an expert on optics. But, I have worked with other brands (more expensive) and this one out shines those easily. I highly recommend this scope for anyone wishing to add a quality set of optics to any rifle.

Nice optic for an air rifle or 22
Kind of a compact scope that I put on my air rifles. Crystal clear and lets a good amount of light through. Bought one on recommendation from a family member who had one and really liked it. I liked it so much that I bought a 2nd one for another air rifle contemplating putting it on my 22's. Eye piece is adjustable for focus, objective lense is fixed, 2 turrets for zero and 1 for the objective lense adjustment. 3-12 is awesome for getting zeroed in without having to have an additional spotting scope. Comes with standard medium rings for pic or weaver rails. I did buy the dovetail ring for one of my air rifles. I have no complaints...

I Really Wanted to Love It
To begin, I really like the scope. It looks great on my M&P 15/22, the magnification range is perfect for a .22, and the optics are surprisingly sharp for this price range. I mounted the scope and had it zeroed in 10 shots (at 25 yards due to limited space). The lighted reticle works great against a dark target. The elevation and windage knobs click properly and the locks work as advertised. Really good quality for the price with a few (one big) exceptions. Now for the negatives. I really only have two but one is a pretty big annoyance. First, the battery door on the control knob for the lighted reticle gets unscrewed when I twist the knob. Not a really big deal but if there was some kind of slot so you could use a quarter or something to tighten the cover it would all but eliminate this minor issue. The bigger problem is that I too received a scope with a rotated reticle (I posted the second reticle photo - with the levels pictured). I realize this is an inexpensive scope but seriously, it IS a rifle scope and what is more important than the reticle on a rifle scope? And how hard could it possibly be to engineer a manufacturing process to ensure a level reticle? Alignment marks? A small notch? I would think this would be a very simple and obvious concern for a scope manufacturer to fix. We'll see. I just ordered a replacement from Amazon and if everything else works like the first scope AND the reticle is straight I will certainly come back and give 5 stars. One final note on the manufacturer... I sent a support request online (to Leapers), not trying to return it to Leapers but just asking about the rotated reticle and politely asking if this was a fluke or if Leapers considered this to be an "acceptable variation" in the manufacturing process. I was simply trying to determine whether I need to go through the replacement process or look for something else. Two days later and no reply whatsoever. I'm pretty big on customer service and this leaves a really bad impression on me for a company I'm buying from. As I said earlier though, if the replacement has a straight reticle and otherwise works like the first one, I'll consider it a five star scope for the money. Update 5/7/2012 I received the replacement scope today and it too had a rotated reticle though not as bad. I've decided to return it as well and purchase a little nicer scope. I'm just too anal to let a rotated reticle slide since the whole point of a scope revolves around the reticle. It's like a watch maker that makes a perfectly nice watch that does everything right except keep time. For general plinking or for an airsoft gun, this might be fine. If you can live with a rotated reticle (meaning if you adjust elevation you'll have to adjust windage as well just to compensate for the slanted reticle - not to mention either having your scope mounted crooked or sight with a slanted reticle), it's perfectly fine other than that. Apparently, judging by the positive reviews, not all of these scopes may have this issue. Maybe you'll get one that's not affected and in that case you'll have a decent little scope for the money. Also, Leapers did send me an email response today and they offered to replace the scope at no cost - actually wanted to have their engineers look at my scope, but I had already started the return process with Amazon.
