Like the author (Stella Metsovas), I've spent the majority of my summers over the past 40 years visiting my dad's village in Southern Greece. What I love and appreciate appreciate Wild Mediterranean is how authentic the reference to the "village way" is described and incorporated into the book. The way in which the author describes the lifestyle of villagers- from the way that the people gather in open-air events to eat, drink, and be merry to the connection that the people have to one another and their village- is genuine and pure. This is not just a cookbook that uses the Greek culture as a novelty to sell copies, but rather a true testament to the health benefits of living the "Wild Mediterranean" lifestyle. Along with the gorgeous photos and presentation, the author also provides an explanation to gut health that an everyday person can understand and, most importantly, incorporate into their life. My family and I have thoroughly enjoyed every recipe that we've tried- especially the gut-friendly Moussaka. I can finally enjoy one of my favorite Greek dishes again without feeling bloated and heavy! I highly recommend this book as a reference for optimal health, delicious recipes, and accessible ways to help cure gut and digestive issues.

Simply amazing book. Very easy read addressing the issues of a healthy gut. Love love LOVE the photos and organization of the book. Not necessarily a cookbook nor a diet book but rather the main premise of a healthy gut which governs our overall health. The Mediterranean Diet is a proven approach of longevity and lifestyle. Ms. Metsovas' twist of Paleo Mediterranean is absolute genius. Throughout my life I've done every fad diet out there. My weight was one constant yoyo. Then I discovered going back to the basic fresh veggies and lean meats. Finally, as a professional chef I find the recipes not only very authentically Mediterranean but very tasty. The first recipe tried was the "Mom's Secret Tzatziki" and "Not Your Typical Greek Salad". Hands down the best tzatziki I've experienced. Who would have thought to use the ingredients listed. Tomorrow I must try the Baklava Butter. In conclusion, the Author's approach is very natural and fresh using ingredients and concept easy for everyone to follow. This is my new favorite book.

Not the cook book I thought it was
I did like this, however, it has more of a novel feeling less than a cook book which I thought it was. I got over reading it pretty quickly and have not made any of the dishes. It is more of a way of life manual for the MD which I wasn't clear on.

Captured my attention at the get-go!
This book is informative, well-written and includes a variety of delicious recipes. I had been looking for answers to help me improve issues I was having with my gut and following the advice in this book helped me get on a healthier path. It's packed with scientifically based information, while still being easy to read and follow and the photographs are just beautiful! One of the best things about the recipes is that Stella puts a twist on some of the same old recipes we as Mediterranean's have cooked for years. Two of my favorites are "Not-Your-Typical Greek Salad," and "Spinach Pie with Sprouted Wheat Crust." I highly recommend this book!

I absolutely fell in love with this book from the moment I opened the cover. An easy read that combines recipes with real life stories. The author does an amazing job telling her story and connecting the reader to a healthy lifestyle that is easy and simple to follow. The recipes are delicious. What sets this book apart from others is how the author not only talks about the food that is healthy for us but how our lifestyle should reflect this type of living. A must read for those who strive to be heathy and looking to reduce the day-to-day stress in their lives.

I was looking for a book to give me some tips and recipes on Mediterranean dishes since that’s mine and my husbands favorite. I am so very happy with my purchase! First I must say the quality in pictures is beautiful so I love having it displayed on my kitchen book stand. As far as what this book offers, it’s a little bit of everything. Great recipes, facts and fun cooking tips. As soon as I opened up the book I learned that black eye peas are a natural mood booster. Good to know! For the price of the book you can’t go wrong!

Finally, the cookbook/eating guide I have been searching for!
I have been on the hunt for a book that promotes food simplicity, wholesome, healthy ingredients, beautiful flavors, and gut health. This is it! I absolutely love this book.

Either I got a used book or a badly printed book because there are ink spots all over that don't match the photos.This is the second time I bought the book as I gave the first one away as a gift, but I did try a recipe from it (turkey meatballs) and it was really good. Unfortunately 70 % of the book is about what wild food is and how it's good for you rather than being a recipe-heavy book, also not that many photos of the recipes.
