The Ultimate Bushcraft Survival Manual

Meh... s'aight
I like books with pictures. Don't get me wrong, I'm a reader too, but for skills and cooking I like to see a picture for inspiration. This book definitely delivers in that regard. I'd say that in general, unless you're totally new to bushcraft and forestry skills this book is pretty basic. Even if you are new to it, this book is basic, but in that regard, I'd say that's a strength. It gets 3 stars from me because I think it didn't really decide what it wants to be. A lot of basic ideas are in here, but their treated quickly, like a CYA (using a knife and fire is dangerous, kids). This uses up pages and creates fluff for those of us who've been in the woods for a few years, but isn't enough about basic skills to the new kids. Anyway, it's entertaining overall and the pictures intrigue my 3 year old and cause him to want to try stuff, so we'll put it on his book shelf and I'll take him outside more. Worth a few bucks.

Perfect for a bug-out bag. Overall very nice visuals. The right kind of information you'd want.
This is EXACTLY what I was looking for for my bug-out bag. I hardly know/knew crap about outdoor survival stuff. This is the perfect book for that. Just make sure you have room in your bag(s) for it! It's not super tiny, but that's fine by me because the visuals are overall very nice. It has the right selection and categorizations of outdoor/wilderness/forest survival information. Highly recommended.

Useful Book For Outdoor Living
I purchased this book for my son-in-law for his birthday. He enjoys camping and goes several times a year, whenever he can. The book has a soft bendable cover, with a plastic coated cover for protection from weather and outdoor living. I was impressed by all the corners were metal that appears to protect the book from early damage from constant usage. I looked through the content of the book and it appears to be a good book for outdoor camping.

Awesome book!
This is one of the nicest survival books I've gotten yet. And I've got quite a few. The color photos and the amount of information in this book is incredible. It's not super advanced however the color photos really do a lot for everything in the book. I highly recommend adding this to your survival skills arsenal.

Good Format & Information
I wanted an outdoor skills book for my grandson to go with some other hiking items. This was what I was looking for. It has a lot of illustrations and short articles. Something he could pop open and read a page or two, look at the diagrams and pictures and learn things handy in the wilderness without getting overly technical like you’re going to be on a survival show. It’s something the whole family could enjoy while hiking or camping or right in their own backyard.

Good for some people
This is a pretty good entry level for a person interested in bushcraft. The author had understandable difficulty in making it simple enough for new people but not oversimplified for people who know stuff. A series of short articles on basic subjects. High quality production standards. That said, I returned it for the reasons stated above. It’s best use may be as a gift for a Scout or other young person interested in covering a variety of topics.

Cool book - Built to withstand the elements!
This is an awesome book. It has very simple explanations and pictures on how things work. I know quite a bit about living in the woods but you can always learn new stuff right. Plenty of interesting ideas that you would not think of.The book itself is made of some kind of coated paper that can withstand all kinds of abuse. The corners of the book even have metal covers on them. I opted for the print copy so in case the SHTF this will always be there. I love my kindle but eventually the battery will wear down.I think its an worthwhile investment and a good reference manual for someone who wants to survive in the backwoods.

Fantastic resource in a great format!
I have a tradition of buying a new Outdoor Life book every summer we go camping at the lake - they are great beach reading, and are super durable bindings. MacWelch is by far my favorite author in this series, and while I don't think The Ultimate Bushcraft Survival Manual is quite as comprehensive as his earlier Prepare for Anything Survival Manual it is still one of the better books in this genre and format. A minor quibble - very little of what is presented in this book would meet my definition of "bushcraft", but would maybe be better described as outdoor/survival skills. I think MacWelch's The Hunting and Gathering Survival Manual might be a better "bushcraft" reference.

Good book
Its a little hard to read, the background is blended into the words so its a bit hard to read under med light.. I even used my head lamp in various light modes and still hard to read some pages.. Other than that was a very good read.. I'd say this book is for a advanced beginner..
