Girls' Venice Jr. Field Boot

The calves on these boots are waaay too narrow to be comfortable.My calves are only 12" in circumference (at their widest point), and these were snug enough to be uncomfortable. I could zip them, although not easily, and they're tight enough that there's no 'give' when I try to walk or drop my heels. The elastic cut on the inside of each boot was stretched out, as were the longer elastic strips right next to the zipper. My calves are narrower now than when I was a teenager and riding every week, so I can't imagine these boots working even for a scrawny, stick-thin girl like I was... I tried the Venezia boots before these ones and had similar issues with the calf widths (I returned the Venezias because they were way too tall though, not because of the calves), so maybe it's just a problem with Mountain Horse boots...Although the calves are extremely narrow, the rest of the boot seems to run large. I normally wear a 6/6.5, but I ordered the 5-6 based on reviews and I have plenty of space in the foot/toes (which would be fortunate if I was keeping the boots, because I'd want to add an insole for some form of arch support). The ankle also seemed extremely large, especially given that the calves are so narrow. With a zipper down the length of the entire boot, the ankle doesn't need the extra space to get your foot into or out of the boot, so it just leaves a lot of uncomfortable extra space for the boot to buckle and slouch and dig into your ankles. I know riding boots are supposed to "drop" when they break in, but there's no much extra leather around the ankle that I feel like these would look ridiculous when that finally happened.Finally, although I know this is more of a packaging review, my boots were obviously a previous return, with the box ripped up and rolled paper/cardboard in only one of the boots. Can't blame whoever it was for returning them though...

Yikes. I thought these might be a good option based on other reviews - I am fairly short and was looking for a boot that might accommodate a shorter leg. But these boots seem to be sized strangely. I ordered the 7-8 and they were WAY too big in the foot BUT I couldn't get it zipped up my leg - and I don't have fat calves. My daughter (who wears a 6 in women's sizes) could barely get it zipped. Would have been a nice option...but alas the search goes on.

My size for shoes and boots is 5 5 1/2 so any boots make me feel comfortable and finally 10 years ago I decided to test this model of boot. From the begining I felt them perfect and nice, so I will use for ever.

I didn't like the product.

It's very difficult to find tall boots for short riders. In order to get the height on the boot short enough, I need to order a child's boot for my granddaughter. In order to get the calf width big enough for her (she is very slim) I have to buy a boot with a larger than needed foot size. Hopefully, these will last her a couple of years. Otherwise, a very nice boot.

Perfect fit for my daughter. She is small at 4'8 and 74lbs and these were the only pair we found that fit. So many boots are either too tall or too wide. These fit her perfect. She shows on A circuit (12 years old) and they look the part.

The boots fit my daughters foot, but the leg of the boot as too thin. She is a slim girl so we didn't expect the leg area to be small. The quality of this boot is great and we went into women's sizing.
