Boxxer GEN720 850W 720 Compact Petrol Generator

The item turned up broken. One of the little cast legs was fractured off. I was told that this could have happened in transit. The generator was well packaged which got me thinking..............how would this cope where I wanted to use it (on the allotment, camping etc) and all the moving about. Item returned and full refund.

The generator comes with a fixed measure in the cap, so very easy to measure the correct amount of oil and poor into the petrol.There is a turn off valve on the side which is easy to forget and after a few pulls I remembered and turned it back on.It starts easy each time if you remember the valve, but does not run very silently, I would not like to use it next to a tent and try to sleep through the noise, I intend to put it behind a shed where we camp and hopefully this will reduce the noise.I have run it with lights and with an electric hedge trimmer with no problem at all.I would recommend this generator, but not if it is going to be next to your tent.

Handy size but very loud.

This unit is cheap and nasty - even the box it comes in is totally unfit for purpose and had fallen apart by the time the delivery driver got it to my door.I unpacked it and put together the few bits that needed asembly, filled it up with fuel and pulled the starting cord....the cord came all the way out without turning the motor over and jammed solid. Looking through the cover on the pull-cord mechanism I could see that the drum the cords wraps around is a very flimsy plastic affair which I am sure is the reason for its' failure at first use.Clearly this unit had never been tested at the factory.I rang the manufacturers (UK) help number on the day I received the unit (Saturday)and spoke to a very disinterested lady who, after I explained what had happened, told me that she had to pass the matter on to someone else and that she would get them to ring me, not sooner than the following Tuesday. I asked her why the delay and she said "we're busy".I told her not to bother with the phone call, that I was sending it back and would never buy their products again.I then had the agggravation of draining the fuel - no instructions in the manual about this so I had to tip it upside down and drain it into a bucket, and take apart the bits I had assembled, then attempt to securely re-package it in the flimsy box it came in - a whole roll of packaging tape was needed for this !I then went on Amazons' website to arrange the return, followed the procedure to the point where I had to click a link to the YODEL website to arrange for them to collect it - and got a messaage telling me that the service is unavailable. So now I have to go through hoops to contact Amazon by phone to get this piece of rubbish collected - and wait 10-15 days before I get my money back. I am not a happy bunny.
