Fun and Educational Kit
This is a really interesting and surprisingly well put together lockpicking set. The transparent padlock is a great idea because you can actually see how the pins move inside while you practice, which makes it much easier to understand how locks work. The set comes with a good variety of picks and tools, and the instructions are helpful, especially if you are a complete beginner. It feels more like a learning kit than just a novelty item, and it’s actually quite addictive once you start getting the hang of it.The tools themselves seem decent quality for a starter set, and everything comes nicely organised. It would make a great gift for someone who likes gadgets, puzzles, or learning how things work.Overall, a fun, educational and well presented lockpicking kit that’s great for beginners and a really unique gift idea.

Great Value For Money, Easy to Learn, Helpful
The product is generally really good, either to kick start a hobby, or as a giftThere's a wide variety of picks, all of which seem to not wear too much (even with me constantly scraping them against the insides of locks)., help you pick a wide range of locks with ease. The padlock the set comes with is really easy to work with for beginners, especially for 'picking', thanks to it's transparency. However, it does seem a tad flimsy (not significantly though, and does not affect how you pick the lock).Comes with 3 cases; one for the lock (and key) and two for the picks, one leather, one a plastic 'credit card'. The cases are all really nice, nothing to complain about there. The online guides are helpful, helped me pop my first lock within 5 minutes! It also really effectively explains the mechanisms behind locks, and how you bypass them (as well as all the necessary legalities). The company itself is really nice and responsive, sending me the guides via email within a day of ordering, and if I had any questions or complaints they seemed very accommodating. All in all, excellent for beginners, well worth the money and really good fun!

Excellent for beginners, though a little flimsy if you're heavy handed.
I found this set a very affordable way to learn how to pick locks - it's difficult to explain the sense of satisfaction you get when you hear the 'pop'.The e-guides provided were the first step, but I strongly recommend watching videos on YouTube by 'LockPickingLawyer', 'Bosnianbill' and 'Lock Noob' - I have watched several hours of their videos in the last week and you pick up techniques and a far better understanding of exactly what's happening when you pick a lock.Unfortunately I was a little heavy handed with and broke the 'city rake' pick and the keyhole on the padlock had widened a smudge over 1mm due to too much tension. I e-mailed customer support asking if they sell replacement parts, which they don't, but they did send me a complete replacement set - thank you!The credit card tool's tension bar is the most effective in the set, as you can use it for 'top of the key-way' tension (TOK) - the other tension bars are for 'bottom of the key-way' tension (BOK) and are reasonably flexible which I've found to be a bit of a hindrance when learning, as you need to be able to feel what's happening inside the lock. You can definitely tell this set has been used well over the last week - the padlock is getting increasingly difficult to open and some of the picks and tension bars are slightly bent. I am a little worried about snapping the credit card tool's tension bar soon, as it's started to bend. I found 'Lock noob' has a very good video explaining how much tension you should be using and I recommend searching for that and watching it.I also recommend watching some videos on how to 'rake' properly. Some people just jab the pick in the lock up and down until it opens and this can easily snap the picks in this set. It's good to understand the technique before trying it.Overall I am happy with my experience - this was my first time picking locks and this product enabled me to get that leaping start. The general feel of the kit is a little hard-edged and I'll need to take some sand paper to a couple of the picks in the new set to smooth the edges, but for £13.97 I was not expecting true top of the range products. I'm sure I could find far worse products for much more money!I do feel that the quality of this kit could be significantly improved by not twisting the larger tension wrench (to maintain it's rigidity) and finding a way to improve the strength of the credit card tool's tension wrench (or providing a strong 'TOK' tension wrench with the rest).I would recommend this product to people who are looking to learn how to pick locks, but who are unable to commit a lot of money to get themselves going. Just be aware at how much force you use, but if you do break something send them an e-mail and I'm sure it'll get sorted - LockCowboy seem to really stand behind their product, which is great!I have attached some images comparing the new, unused set, and the set I've used fairly heavily for the last week.

Very good
I recently purchased a lock picking set, and I wanted to share my thoughts on it for anyone considering adding this unique tool to their collection. As someone who is fascinated with locks and security mechanisms, I've been eager to try my hand at lock picking, and this set did not disappoint. The set I bought comes in a compact and durable case, which makes it easy to store and transport. Upon opening the case, I was pleased to find a diverse selection of lock picks and tension wrenches. It included several hook picks, diamond picks, and rake picks, which provide a good range for different types of locks. The tools are made from high-quality stainless steel, ensuring they are robust and long-lasting. Each pick has a comfortable grip, allowing for precision and control while manipulating the pins. One of the standout features of this set is the instructional manual that accompanied it. The guide is incredibly detailed, walking beginners through the fundamentals of lock picking, including the principles of how locks work, the tools needed, and step-by-step techniques for picking various types of locks. Even as a novice, I found the explanations clear and helpful. The illustrations included in the manual are particularly useful in visualizing the process, making it much easier for someone without prior experience to understand.I decided to start practicing on a couple of practice locks, which were included in my order. These locks are designed to help beginners learn the ropes without the fear of damaging real locks. Over the course of a few weeks, I dedicated time to honing my skills, and I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I progressed. The combination of the right tools and a solid understanding of the techniques allowed me to successfully pick simple locks, and eventually, more complex ones as well.Another benefit of this lock picking set is the portability. The compact case fits easily into a backpack, allowing me to practice wherever I go. It’s a great conversation starter too, and I've found that it piques the interest of friends and family. However, I would like to emphasize the importance of ethical lock picking. It’s crucial to remember that these tools should only be used on locks that you own or have explicit permission to pick. Engaging in lock picking for illegal purposes is not only unethical but can lead to severe consequences. This set has inspired me to explore the world of locks in a legal and responsible way, focusing on locksmithing as a skill and possibly a hobby.Overall, my experience with this lock picking set has been overwhelmingly positive. It has provided me with the necessary tools and knowledge to explore an interesting and challenging hobby. The quality of the products and the instructional materials have made the learning curve manageable and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this set to anyone interested in learning the art of lock picking, whether for professional development or personal interest. Just remember to use your skills wisely!

Fancy Testing Your Skills against LOCKS (maybe even handcuffs lol)
Ever fancied becoming James Bond, a cat burglar or simply a great lock picker just for fun, or even to get yourself back in to your home, office or to impress your friends, well this is definitely the set to buy, I spent a few hours reviewing various sellers and manufacturers of lock picks before deciding which one to buy. This all inclusive kit by "The LockCowboy" comes with a 20-piece lock pick set,, they are well presented in a case and seems to include everything you could possible need become a "locksmith", and I love the inclusive transparent practice lock, which comes with keys, and it allows you to see just how a lock works on the inside. The picks etc come well packaged in a sturdy cardboard bow and contains a lock, crochet hooks, and a leather bag. The James Bond credit card kit (which I initially though made this a set for kids) is actually cool and has a mini set of five tools inside, I love it because to most people they would think it was just some kiddies play credit card from a spy set or something, but it is in fact very functional and yes it will actually fit into your wallet. You get a couple of great e-guides (books) to help get you started and hopefully take you and your skills from novice to advanced to maybe even a pro level locksmith.Lock picking is a skill, mainly practised by locksmiths (the people who open doors when you cant) it is an advanced skill that requires patience, practice and lots of training. It is also a sport and a great way to impress friends at parties etc. these lock picking tools are of great quality and if used properly I believe will last you a long time, in fact they believe in them so much that offer a lifetime guarantee.I'm not experienced but i do have a friend who is a professional, he had a look and said that this set is very comprehensive, so I felt my research time had paid off. My friend said that this gives you everything you need in order to learn the trade and laughed at my trying this followed by am I going to have competition lol, he has fifteen years experience on me so I don't think that will be happening any time soon.So to summarise this professional lock pick set includes the following: A 15-Piece Lock Pick Set with Case (this fits nicely in your pocket), a cool 5-piece James Bond credit card that is wallet sized, a see through (Transparent Cutaway Padlock) complete with Keys. A beginners quick start e-guide with a couple of videos and illustrations and an advanced MIT guide to lock picking.Personally having fun trying this out, looking forward to trying to crack a load of old locks that we have in the garage :-) hope you have as much fun as I am having, enjoy the set and share your experiences.PS. I forgot to mention that the e-guides are emailed to your account, simply click "Your Account" scroll down to "Buyer/Seller Messages" and you will find them there attached as a PDF, have to say the staff are very good, polite and like to ensure you have a great service.PPS. Just in case your wondering I chose this item after reviewing similar items, and was happy to pay for a great product.

Very basic but technically works
While the quality of the picks is acceptable the padlock it came with is laughably easy to pick (I have never picked a lock in my life, only seen some YT vids on the subject, managed to both pick and rake it within 60 seconds of opening the package, that easy). And even the bigger issue, since I was trying to bypass the lock and depress the plunger, I managed to entirely disassemble the lock and remove the core... I mean... come on now...

Best lock to get someone into lock-picking
I've bought a transparent training lock so I could teach others of the wonders of a pocket size puzzles you can often get for free as folk tends to loose their keys. That lock was useless for teaching as you could barely open it with the keys. This lock is perfect for teaching beginners as it opens in 5 seconds to 3 min depending on luck and amount of beer you've had. Strongly recommend it to get folk into it... but bring more locks of different difficulties in case you want them to learn anything. For the tools, I'm happy with the quality and variety. Looks and feels like the ones i got from Toool (NL) which lasted for years with little show of wear and tear... One rake has been slightly bent, but I blame that on my 120kg drunk gorilla friend who I can only assume tried to use it as a saw to cut the lock in half with brute force. The tension tools in the main package are good, would have preferred the smaller one to be a bit thinner at least on one side so to give you more options on which one to use.The credit card set is fun as a novelty.. I need to test it on a real lock but it looks fine.. the tension tool in there is however horrible. Bad grip, slips out too easily and is just a waste of space.. It's a fun gimmick, but I think I'll wrap it as a Christmas present or give it as a price for best student in class. It doesn't close properly and for concealment it's rubbish. All those things would fit in: business card holders, magic markers and perhaps even a lipstick/mascara container. But.. the tools inside are decent, part from the tension tool. All in all.. this is value for money even if you throw away the credit card box, dremel the little tension tool on one side and break a rake or two. Just make sure you get more locks as you will master this one quickly.Update: I've given another star for the prompt and courteous response from them!

Ideal for starters
As a complete novice picker this would appear to be an ideal introduction into a new skill set. The set seems robust and likely to last. It comes in a handy, pocket size case, and with the added bonus of a credit card sized additional set which fits easily into my wallet, and is therefore readily available. The range of picks seems to be more than adequate with a number of rakers (a new term for me) and single picking tools. It also has some picks, which I think, could retrieve a broken off key from a lock, though I haven't tried this, and would rather not have to! The practice lock is excellent for seeing how a typical padlock works and I opened it within seconds. That could be a problem with all such locks, because I want to practice my technique and this lock opens far too easily to see if your technique is improving. When I have tried to open some of my bike locks, they provide a much sterner challenge. One thing could be improved in the set, in my opinion, and that is that the two tensioner tools in the main set are both the same width, though slightly different thicknesses, and I would have appreciated either one of them to be slightly narrower to enable greater access to smaller locks, or an additional tool. The tensioner tool in the credit card set has two different widths, and so you can always use this for smaller locks, but it does seem strange that such an inexpensive addition could not be provided for the main set. All in all a great set; I can thoroughly recommend them for the price and quality. All I need now is a variety of locks to practise on!
