For £18 I figured I couldn't go far wrong with this jig. It's surprisingly accurate and easy to use, just make sure you read the instructions and watch the plentiful videos available on using it. Once you get your head around its features and operation it's really nice to use. Make sure you pay attention to the drill depths for different types of joint (all explained in the manual) to avoid drilling holes too deep. It's a pity the guide didn't come with any depth stops but they're available separately. I would suggest getting the clamp style depth stops rather than the slide/screw depth stops as they look more substantial and less likely to slip. Personally, I use masking tape on the drills, reserving the depth stops for really precise work. In use I found the drill guides well formed and accurate. Clamping the work piece is advised. The jig handle can interfere with clamps in certain configurations, but nothing that can't be fixed by moving the clamps. I did notice the jig cannot drill holes extremely close to the edge of the wood, so this jig isn't for you if you want dowels closer than 35-40mm from the edge. This is due to the placement of the moulded pins of the jig. Using the jig I quickly used it to put together an Xmas tree base cover that can be dismantled for storage (limited storage space). The end result was excellent and quickly achieved, with the short end of the dowels glued in place and the long ends slotting into place to hold it together over Xmas periods. Overall I recommend this dowel jig to anyone with a need to use dowels occasionally.

Great tool - really easy to use

It's easy to use and does the job but not very well. No matter how precise you are with marking / measuring / positioning / drilling the resulting joint is rarely perfectly aligned. I suspect this is due to the lack of any workpiece clamping feature and the slightly flimsy plastic construction. It's OK for what it cost but I'll be looking for something better.

As many reviewers have commented this is a cleverly designed tool. I used it for the first time today and quickly made three successful joints. It does have one or two limitations which are not entirely clear from the instructions / YouTube video. First, the (clever) method for ensuring you drill in the dead centre of the edge of the wood prevents you from drilling holes close to the end. That's probably not a big deal most of the time. A more serious issue is not being able to clamp the tool in position. This means that you are trying to hold the tool square and steady with one hand while drilling with the other. I found that quite tricky, though it probably gets easier with practice. And admittedly the results were pretty good. The third and (in my view) biggest limitation is not being able to work with wood of more than 30mm thickness. I am planning a project which will involve joining 45mm pieces. Actually I think I probably can use it, with a little ingenuity, though it won't be possible to drill the holes in the centre. I think the technique for lining up the holes on the two pieces of wood should still work. Overall I think it's a good buy and probably less bother than other dowelling systems. Fine for most purposes, though if you are making cabinets for Buckingham Palace you might want a kit that you can clamp.

Cercavo una dima per le giunzioni mediante spinatura. Questa costa poco, è versatile, intuitiva e precisa. L’ho utilizzata già per diversi progetti e posso garantire che funziona moto bene. I materiali sono un po’ quel che sono ma perlomeno i fori sono rinforzati in metallo quindi non si rovineranno (d’altronde parliamo anche di un prodotto di fascia medio bassa). Lo consiglio vivamente se come me non state cercando una dima da utilizzare tutti i giorni ma solo occasionalmente.

Makes fitting dowels an absolute breeze! Super easy to use once you get the hang of it. Has so many features and abilities so you really can fit dowels however you want! No more misaligned panels! No idea why so many people are complaining about slop with imperial drill bits. This is a metric tool so of course if you use outdated imperial bits in a metric tool it's not going to work as intended. Using metric bits this works flawlessly and the hardened steel guides in the drill guides mean it will last a long time.

Lors de la livraison de l'outil, je me suis servi de quelques morceaux de bois avant de commencer à exécuter le travail que j'avais planifié. En pratiquant, j'ai constaté que la butée d'épaisseur de planche bougeait pendant l'utilisation. Bien que l'outil soit bien fait, j'ai constaté que la pince de la butée d'épaisseur ne pouvait pas tenir suffisamment la butée pour la maintenir en place. Le problème a été résolu en moins d’une minute avec quelques coupes à la scie peu profondes sur la glissière de la pince pour rendre la surface plus rugueuse. La prise supplémentaire offrait suffisamment de prise pour que la vis de la pince maintienne la butée en place. Dans l’ensemble, une fois que je me suis habitué à l’utiliser, j’ai trouvé l’outil rapide et facile à utiliser, qui en valait vraiment la peine, qui a fait du bon travail et m’a fait gagner beaucoup de temps.
