Does this sling work for both left and right arm support

Yes, I used it on the left, but it fits the right arm, too

Is the waist strap detachable???

Yea, you don't have to have it on.One note isn't that the Velcro on the shoulder strap went after a little while but was wearing it for 3 months

Would this fit a 3 year old?

Hi Michelle, definitely not. My 5yr old is as big as a seven year old and it doesn't fit her.
