SATA to USB, SATA Cable Hard Drive Reader, Super fast Data transfer, 2.5" Hard drive Universal Compatibly (EC-SSHD)

Used this to access an old SATA drive and it worked straight away. It’s a simple way to connect a spare hard drive or SSD to a computer without needing to install it inside a case. The cable feels reasonably well made and the connection was stable while transferring files. It’s a useful little adapter to keep around if you have old drives with data you need to recover or check.

I purchased this so I could essentially backup/restore 2.5" SATA hard disks. It was especially useful for upgrading one of the harddisks on my laptop which fortunately had a USB 3 port to gain the massive performance benefits to be had. When the product arrived I was quite pleased at the overall look of of the packaging and the product itself. I've not seen many products where the cable is coiled up into a foam insert but they have done that here and it actually looks quite cool. It's a nice touch and clearly more expensive to manufacture than just shipping it coiled up and thrown in a brown box or stuffed in a clear plastic bag, The USB to SATA adapter itself seems quite well made and will hopefully last a while. It's not something that I will use every day - more likely once every so often so it will live in my PC spares box until it services are required again! Some users may be quite happy permanently attaching it to their PC or laptop with an SSD attached, especially if they haven't got the physical space in their system. The device was completely plug and play in Windows 10 and no additional driver software was required. It really was as simple as plugging in a USB memory stick and the partitions on the drive were detected straight away. I performed a couple of benchmarks with this adapter and was incredibly impressed with the results. A 7200K RPM HGST hard disk was nearly as quick as it is when connected to the SATA port in the laptop, reaching 134 MB/s read which is less than 10 MB/s less than direct SATA (the 4K values were roughly the same, although marginally less). When connecting up a Samsung EVO 860 1TB I was pretty much blown away by the adapter's performance for a USB device. Admittedly it's about 100 MB/s slower than when connected directly to a SATA port but at up to 448 MB/s it is nearing the bandwidth limit of USB 3 and is very impressive indeed. I also tested the Samsung EVO 860 1TB using a USB 2.0 port and it's clear that this USB adapter is maxing out that type of port. For the price this is an absolute bargain and offers incredible performance on both USB 2 and USB 3. If you're the sort of person that ever upgrades laptops then you definitely need this product in your arsenal. PC users will probably just plug a new drive into their PC to clone it but if you have no SATA ports left then this is the perfect solution. Very impressed with the product. I hope it does me proud again the next time I get it out the spares box!

Encouraged by an earlier Sabrent accessory purchase and use, the SATA to USB cable seemed a natural choice. Cheaper alternatives available but assured quality for a mission critical task was the right choice to ensure transferring files from a failing HDD to an external drive was going to be smoothly and efficiently achieved. Very satisfactory outcome from using this cable. A potentially useful extra, although not required for that particlur task, is the inclusion of a lite version of Acronis True Image.

great value for money, especially with the longer than normal cable allowing a lot more ease of use than other models that are wedged next to the machine with their short cables. as of May 2026, despite what some of the other reviews say I can conform a.) this device is fully compatible with Windows 11, Mac OS including 26, and any mainstream Linux distribution b.) this device does not require any additional drivers or configuration in any of these operating systems c.) this device works with SSD devices without power, but if you want to use spinning disk you will need to use with the lower power 2.5 devices (even some of them will require more power than USB) or buy the alternative version with external PSU to power larger 3.25 disks d.) this device works perfectly as a Raspberry PI boot device on PI4 and PI5 out of the box, no changes needed and what operating system you run on the PI does not matter. If you have an older PI4 (potentially PI3 but I couldn't test) you need to make sure your PI eprom is around early 2021 or USB boot is not enabled by default other than it works straight out of the box, no SD card needed at all, and using the USB 3 ports is a very notable improvement over the SD card. e.) the person who said they tried this with IDE disks is incorrect, the connection does not fit IDE disks, it clearly says SATA interface, so a 1 start review as it didn't work with an IDE disk is nonsense (how could you even plug it in, let alone test it) f.) trim is not supported on this device, which I verified as another review called this out, this is something to by very aware of if you're using an SSD and you use trim as part of maintaining a long life on it - especially if it's being used for a boot drive with a lot of writes needed just to operate. Overall very happy, good quality device, great long cable which is unusual, superb compatibility, performance aligned to it's spec and usage, seems clean and simple as a build, suggesting long life beyond obvious exception of electronic failure or cable damage (cable seems well protected and allowed for stable sustainable speed) obviously if you treat it badly it will fail the same as any other cable. It lost a start due to the lack of trim support, but I'm unclear if this is a limitation of the chipset or a limitation of the USB interface to the disk at this time.

So basically I trashed the pins on the input for the SSD via it's says cable, and so I couldn't use that, now I had two options, new motherboard (very expensive) or SATA to usb, you can guess what I went for, and now yeah, it works perfectly, super easy to set up on this side (bios was a bitch but it's fine now), and it's as fast as it was before. 10/10 would recommend

I took the hard drives out of an old XBox 360 and XBox One and this cable is perfect for hooking them up to my PC.
