For anyone in the 3D printing community seeking a high-quality, easy-to-use clear coat, the Hycote clear finish is an outstanding choice that delivers a truly professional-grade result. I recently used this to finish a 3D print, and I am beyond impressed with the amazing finish it provided. This is a purchase I am genuinely happy with. From the outset, the application process was smooth and straightforward. The aerosol can provides a fine, even spray that coats surfaces consistently, which is perfect for smoothing out layer lines and protecting the intricate details of a 3D print. It adhered perfectly to the PLA material without any issues, dripping, or running. What truly sets the Hycote clear finish apart is the final result. Once dried, it leaves a durable, crystal-clear layer that enhances the underlying filament colour and provides excellent protection. The finish is impressively smooth and glossy, giving my 3D print a polished and professional appearance that looks less like a hobbyist project and more like a finished product. Used to cover 4ft x 3ft printed artwork. Very good results. As they say. It does what it says on the tin !! Would recommend.

Simple to use, make sure you have plenty of ventilation as the fumes are quite powerful but that's not specific to this lacquer. I would say its worth it, as a first use of spray lacquer I'm impressed

I repainted my daughter’s picnic table however it needed more personality. So I used my acrylic paint then used this spray to seal it. Thrilled with it. Very water resistant and dried super quickly.

Great sealant spray, sprayed evenly and thinly and was so quick and easy compared to painting on. It will make your project shiny though, I used mine to seal a terracotta pot for bees to drink out of. It is also quite strong smelling so I’d recommend using outside and ideally letting it dry there for 24 hours if the weather allows. Overall it’s good value for money as you only need thin coats and can be used on so many different projects. Time will tell how durable it is.

I've had a couple of cans of this and used it on re-painted hubcaps and a re-sprayed kids bike. It's good for the price, but not perfect. For the hubcaps I was refreshing them before selling the car and it did a good job - not amazing, some running and orange peel, but it looked great from a usual distance (i.e. stood up, not crouching down inspecting the tyres) and worked a treat for my needs. Would have been a 5 star review for that. For the bike I got a decent but old kids aluminium bike and had it professionally stripped and powder-coated. I then added vinyl decals and then lacquered with Hycote Clear. The results were mixed. Generally the finish was initially very good, limited (although some) orange peel and very limited running. There were a couple of chips thought from very minor impact, which then start the lacquer peeling. I also added a protective sticker (helicopter tape) and had to unpeel a bit to-restick which just lifted all the lacquer off that section, which a sticker really shouldn't! In both cases it had had well over the required 24hrs drying time (often more like 3-4 days, indoors). That meant a re-spray to the affected areas, and whilst they look ok now, I just don't trust that it wont chip/peel in future. It'll look nice for a while though, and thereafter I'll probably use 2k or get the paintshop to do it. TIPS FOR USE: - shake well before using for a good two minutes. Worth warming it too, in a bowl of hot water works well, - Do light(ish) coats, building up, - Leave a good amount of time between coats, especially if you've gone a bit heavy. It's touch dry in 10-15mins, but sometimes multiple coats in quick succession can disturb the previous layers and even the pain beneath (if rattle can painted), - orange peel can be corrected well in this lacquer with some fine wet and dry paper, compound, and patience (see videos online for removing orange peel), - if it starts to chip, stop and re-spray first. Don't chase the edges of the chip back (e.g. with your finger nail) as it'll keep going and going, - whilst you should never touch it when wet with a dry hand (or anything else), you can carefully flatten a drip with a very wet finger moving quickly. Not for the fainthearted though! Will need another coat after if you do this. - Shake
