3M 1900S50 Value Duct Tape, Black, 50 mm

I bought this tape to pack some things because it was recommended by Amazon, A day after I had packed and taped the boxes, the tape had come off and was not sticking. Now I have to go to another retailer and get another load of duct tape and finish the boxes. This is one of the most useless products that I have purchased from Amazon and it IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.

The product is excellent, best quality duct tape I've used. But I purchased it at around £3.30 per roll, ordered the next day and the price had increased to almost £8 a roll! Ordered another brand some time later and it had dropped again. Obviously fluctuates depending on your interest, unnecessary profiteering.

It feels sturdy enough, but I've used it to close boxes for moving. Some bits seem to stick ok. Some, though, peel off. Not when being lifted, not under stress, just the end will peel off the cardboard and flop down. My old duct tape sticks just fine, but not this. It'll come undone just sitting there. Unreliable; I'm not trusting this tape to do well when these boxes are actually being lifted and moved.

The 3M Value duct tape is barely sticky - to the point of being useless and a total waste of my money. When I ordered it there were well over 8,000 reviews with the majority being 5 stars...... BUT WHAT I DIDN'T NOTICE WAS THAT THESE REVIEWS RELATED TO ALL 5 TYPES OF 3M TAPE - AND NOT JUST TO THE VALUE TAPE THAT I WAS LOOKING TO BUY - WITH MANY OF THE REVIEWS ON THE VALUE TAPE SAYING THAT IT WAS A WASTE OF MONEY. AS A RESULT I FEEL THAT THE ADVERT IS VERY MISLEADING..... When I opened the roll and pulled the end I found that it unrolled with a similar force to taking a post-it off a pad - absolutely shocking - and of no use to me. I was so angry at having wasted my money on this tape I decided to take a video showing everyone how poor it actually is. The attached video shows me holding the partly used roll by the end and giving it a very small shake and the roll free falling to the floor. I cannot think of any use for duct tape with this level of 'stick'. When I bought the 3M 'Value' duct tape I thought that it would have a 'value' greater than 'no value'...... I've just thrown it out and won't ever buy it again.

Its very rare I write negative reviews but honestly have to for this product. I usually see 3M and think quality - but even though this is a 'value' product I'm still severely let down. I didn't expect anything crazy, but it barely sticks and performs worse than the Tesco value duct tape I've bought to replace it. Not only does this not stick to smooth surfaces like vaneered wood, plastics or metal, it doesn't even stick to itself. You think you've got a nice join between tape and the item and then about 2 minutes later it begins peeling. Attempted to completely overdo it and wrap the tape entirely around so it joins back to itself and still the tape on top of the other tape starts peeling off. I can't actually think of a use where a non-sticky duct tape would even be viable.

The tape I purchased in May of 2021 was great. I re-ordered in July of 2022 and product is absolute rubbish. Don’t try to use in damp, dry, or dusty environments. Don’t use if you are counting on the tape to remain in place. Don’t use for difficult to access repairs because the failure of this product WILL come back to haunt you. At least the adhesion is so bad that it doesn’t leave residue.

I write this review based on my decades of experiences as a consumer and user of this type of item I have been doing a lot of packaging lately and found this to be among the best of tapes and importantly the best value for a 50M length. Tears easily (across) when wrapping this faster to use without needing scissors. Good and sticky on glossy cardboard and itself but I suspect this is not real 3M or they have changed the glue process as it does not stick as well as I recall to a range or other surfaces. Plumbing rods (plastic) for example.

Good value for sure but tape is on the thin side and the glue seem very weak, maybe it does binds stronger with time but my first impression was: " that's very weak tape, is it even real 3M?" Haven't used it much though as it seems it just won't do the job. Saying that it may bond stronger with time I don't know. Thinking about it now I should probably send it back but I guess it is too late.

Es de excelente calidad se pega muy bien sin deteriorarse, es muy útil. Sin duda es muy buen producto

I have been using this tape for a lot of things for years. You can easily rip it to sized pieces but it is very strong if you pull it. It also seems to withstand moisty environments to a certain degree. Recommended.

Très efficace Facile a découper

Ottimo nastro telato utilizzabile in mille modi e su mille superfici. Mi piace molto la facilità di rottura anche senza forbici o cutter (Grazie alla trama telata), ma una volta utilizzato per fissare, bloccare qualcosa ha una adesione veramente notevole. Lo uso nel fai da te e in officina come: -Rivestimento e sostegno in tutte le applicazioni non critiche; -Protezione di parti, apparecchiature e prodotti dall'abrasione; -Imballaggi -Mantiene il colore lucido nel tempo (indice di buona qualità) -Adatto ad essere applicato a mano ma anche con applicatore su pavimento; -Adatto a lavorare in ambienti umidi e salini (Usato in Freezer per bloccare un cassetto penzolante). Mi sono trovato veramente bene con questo prodotto e visto il prezzo irrisorio lo consiglio per applicazioni in casa/officina/garage. Mi piace molto la malleabilità e versatilità che lo rende idoneo al 90% delle applicazioni provvisorie. NB. pur essendo molto resistente lo sconsiglio fortemente per le applicazioni non critiche e in particolare per applicazioni a temperature maggiori di 60°C (diventa molto malleabile e tende a staccarsi).
