Japan as I have never seen it
Really enjoyed this and it was quite an eye opener in the way I perceived Japanese people and their wild life. Only 3 episodes, but as I only paid £3 for it I considered this to be a bargain (I wouldn't pay more than £5 for it).The Dutch subtitles can be turned off, but only through the remote (no menu option). There are some occasions when the Japanese people spoke, but there was no English translation. That being said, it didn't adversely effect the enjoyment of the disc. Some good quality footage and good narration. The cherry blossoms, deer and macaque monkeys take the centre stage, but there are plenty of other animals, plants and cultural information to keep interest throughout. The 1st episode is mostly about the centre of Japan, 2nd features the southern warmer parts and the 3rd episode covers the much colder north.

Excellent Series
A well researched series that is brilliantly filmed and which is narrated in a manner which is both interesting and engaging by Michelle Dockery. The three programmes each make contrasting subjects showing how the environment shapes the behaviour of the wildlife and flora. Throughout there is very interesting pieces showing how the people interact sympathetically with some of the species of each region and what draws Japanese tourists to certain spots at a particular time. This Wild about Japan is a welcome addition to my other discs in this same series (Wild ___) that I have collected and enjoyed over the years. I recommend this disc to anybody interested in wildlife and natural beauty and how it is influenced by the environment.

Very good , wide range, excellent photography
My version plays in English without dutch subtitles, though box cover is in Dutch. Very good photography, wide coverage covering the frozen north right down to the tropical south, lots of species.

Fascinating look at a beautiful country
I have just watched Joanna Lumley in Japan, so it was an interesting contrast. The voice over was very articulate and interesting, and I was impressed with Michelle Dockery. The camerawork was very good, and the scenery superb. I had not realised that Japan was such a diverse country, with snow capped mountains and beautiful seashores. I always associate Japan with busy cities teeming with people and neon lights everywhere. As with all good quality programmes I would have liked more.

No English subtitles!?
This is a lovely series (I bought the DVD having seen/enjoyed it back when it was available to stream) but the lack of English subtitles is very frustrating. The audio is in English but the only subtitles available are in Dutch. It's made it difficult to watch as I'm missing a lot of what's said. Still enjoyable overall though!

Beautiful wildlife, beautiful scenery.
I can so easily give this the five stars that it is entitled to have. Along with three other countries, I have visited no less than eight times (Tahiti, Japan, Mexico and Canada), it is an enjoyable country to visit This documentary greatly assists the viewer to form the desire to go there. You will enjoy the scenery and the wildlife shown here. It will definitely enhance your "get up and go" dream.

beautifully shot, fantastic narratorship and a good
As you'd expect from a BBC nature documentary, beautifully shot, fantastic narratorship and a good watch. I do wish that the series was longer however.
