ASUS RT-AX86U Pro (AX5700) Dual Band WiFi 6 Extendable Gaming Router, 2.5G Port, Gaming Port, Mobile Game Mode, Port Forwarding, Subscription-free Network Security, VPN, AiMesh Compatible

I had an Asus Tuf 5400 which has a problem with the 5ghz WiFi keep dropping but as this model has good reviews from everywhere on media I went for it and it has not disappointed. It has now been updated to the new firmware which gives more options on the guest WiFi so you can have a separate band for IoT like Amazon devices and doorbells and for others as well. WiFi power is good and we have quite a large semi, lots of options to change and keep secure and a very good firewall. You get what you pay for and in this case it is a very good router that does what it says. Since I installed it I have not had to touch it or turn it off and on (except for when I installed the firmware) unlike the other one and it has even made my wife happy as her robot hoover does not loose its connection anymore, and she knows nothing about tech. Last note; If you are thinking of buying this then do it, do not go cheap this is the best, good luck.

I recently purchased this to replace my RT-AX86U (non Pro version) which sadly died after less than two years of ownership, luckily Asus offer 5 year warranty so I received a refund from Amazon on the old one and this one has that same warranty. The router is easy to setup, not too offensive to look at and you can turn off all of the lights so that it doesn't annoy you. You can create multiple WiFi networks, 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz and Guest. The most impressive thing about this router is the range, so if you're struggling with poor WiFi reception from your ISP issued router, get this thing. I have solid WiFi all over my house (3 floors and concrete/brick walls) and the signal reaches deadspots that the ISP issued router couldn't reach. I'm using this with a Virgin Hub 4 in modem mode and I get amazing WiFi speeds. Hopefully this one will last longer than the AX86U but it's covered for 5 years, so I'm not too worried. Get one, you won't be disappointed.

Setup was very easy, and the speed performance is good. However, one FATAL issue is that the connection is not stable. After a few days the router would encounter de-authentication issue every 5 mins, which means the connection would be lost and then you need to wait 5-10 seconds before it connects again. This is a fatal flaw for a GAMING router. Resetting the router is a temporary fix, but the issue persists after a couple days of normal performance. One quick search on google would tell you that all the users of this gaming router ran into the same problem, and there isn't a fix at all. So save yourself the headaches and buy from another brand.

Absolutely love this router. While I'm not a fanboy of Asus, I don't particularly have an opinion on their brand either, if the product performs well, then that's great. I had issues with my EE Router, especially with streaming and gaming. When I replaced with this Asus router, we have no issues now in the home with Wifi on your phones, which we regularly did with the EE router. There is also a dedicated gaming port for wired and wireless priority for your gaming, which really does seem to reduce lag and chat issues. Most important point to make I think is how easy it was to setup to work on EE Fibre, the menu and setup really is well designed and easy to navigate, setup was a piece of cake. My score for this Router, based on all the points including its price - a solid 10/10

excellent performance from this router, but it makes an annoying coil whine sound when the 2.4ghz antenna is enabled., or set to a power higher than the lowest. Luckily I disabled this as I only need 5ghz. Some people will probably not hear it if they are a bit older of has less sensitive hearing. Range is excellent too even through walls at 5ghz. App is good too but the web ui is better for more complex administration. Size is good but the stand is now built in which means its harder to mount on the wall.

Purchased to pair with my old AX58U in a mesh network. I was originally thinking about WiFi 7 mesh set but the prices are over my budget and don't have or plan to buy any WiFi 7 devices so extending current network option won. The router works great, the mesh network config was relatively easy and works stable for over a week now. Upgraded mainly due to connectivity issues with my IoT devices and that seems resolved, happy days 😊 Additionally I moved smart devices to a guest network which allows me to separate them from the main network. Mobile app allows me to change options without logging in to my laptop but sometimes doesn't "remember" settings i.e. led turned off turn back on without a reason.

Bought the ASUS RT-AX86U Pro router to replace my old ASUS RT-AC68U router. The performance of this new router is far superior than the old router. The signal has been strong and stable so far. Very happy with the purchase.

I wanted something stronger than my ISP router, which it was. But it's buggy and loves restarting (disconnecting all clients) whenever I change any minor thing. Want to fix the IP address of a client, well that will cause a disconnection of all clients! It has some nice tracking features, that tell you how much data each device uses each hour. BUT it sometimes incorrectly associates the traffic with the wrong device. I spend hours trying to understand why one device was continuously sending data - in the end I turned the device off at the wall and yet the router kept saying it was sending data! So don't believe the stats on this router. The aiMesh is nice although you lose a lot of features of the other units when they join the aiMesh - I love the wifi log feature but this now only works for clients directly connected to the main router. There's no UI for the other units (you just get redirected to the main unit).

Very stable router, setting it up was very easy and it has greater wireless range and speed. I connected it as a main router and also connected my other ASUS GT-AX6000 in a wire backhaul AiMesh system, works like a charm. Now I get one SSID in both floors of my house and devices switch between the routers seamlessly depending on the range.

Very happy with its performance

I got this as a replacement for my ac 68u. It has excellent wifi, including the new ax. Really too many features to put in a simple review. I like that it can access the flash drives faster than the 68u. Probably due to more processing power. You need to pay a little bit of attention to where you buy this from, as it will affect what bands are available at 5ghz. I know mine will take a while to come up on 5ghz bands because it listens to see if the channel is unused before it starts using it. Nothing I had to wait for on my old 68u.
