Essential for me
I buy four books every new edition: Jeff Herman's Guide, the Writer's Market Deluxe, Guide to Literary Agents, and Novel & Short Story Writer's Market. I'm a writer and editor. These are essential tomes for me and my work life. Are they good or even great? Yes, I keep buying them because they are good and great, depending on what my needs are. If you like me, write or work in this field of endeavor, these are the best. Essential is the correct term.

Up-to-date leads
The best source for those of us who have no connections. Gives lots of insights besides the listings and once you start digging other links come up.

I highly recommend.
A must read for any writer who wants to be published through a traditional publishing house. You need an agent ant this book helps you navigate the process. As valuable to the writer as a dictionary or a thesaurus. I highly recommend.

A must-own for those who are trying to market their work.
A necessary and highly informative resource for those who are trying to sell their completed novel. A component of publishing an author cannot do without. Buy the newest version. Things change rapidly in the publishing industry. Agents change their submission requirements and preferences.

Excellent Resource
The book is very easy and quick to read. It shows how to write a query letter and how to submit your work to listing agents. I am using this, and sending out my book to listing agents. So glad I bought this book.

Poor formatting makes the Ebook version a PITA to use
Although the book has a lot of great info, in the E-book format it is a PITA to copy-paste addresses and links. Half the time I have to use their link to get to their web page, look up their contact info all over again, THEN copy-paste it into my query. Also, if you increase font size then all of the agent entries run together because it was not properly tested at larger fonts. The only saving grace is that the electronic version is a few bucks cheaper than the print version. Otherwise, it is no easier to use. It's like the publisher never even bothered to test the thing.

The perfect place to look for a literary agent
I never go anywhere but these guides for my publishing needs. I'm seeking representation for a novel and these books helped me narrow down my options perfectly. I buy them every year.

A well organized book
I got the paperback version as it is easier to reference. I like how it's organized. Without a question, if you are looking for an agent, you should get this book.

A most comprehensive reference book, although the USA and ...
A most comprehensive reference book, although the USA and the UK elements should have been clearly separated. Contains a wealth of information on how/what/where to submit and is very educational.

Aimed at the American market
This is focused on the US book market and so wasn't very useful. I should have looked more closely at it but there's nothing that shouts USA about it. I'll stick with the Writers' and Artists' Yearbook.

Three Stars
Comprehensive. Buyer beware, it focuses on USA Literary Agents, not UK.
