RØDE SC3 3.5mm TRRS to TRS Adaptor, Modem

I love this connector. It feels solid in construction and when I plug in the lavalier microphone it snaps in to place. There's no wiggle and the sound doesn't break up if it happens to move about a bit when in use. I use it to connect my mics to my recorders and PC. Perfect sound connection every time.

I like that this is a certified product being made obviously by rode. I have used previous brands in the past for my lav microphones to my a6500 and I also hear a little hiss in my video that I have to clean up in post. I do not have that issue with this adapter so it means a much quicker edit for clients and youtube! Well done RODE!

My clients can have a wide range of audio gear, and this connector has been a real boon! Lots of consumer grade lav mics are TRRS terminated with the mic pin being the extra notch on the connector, and these WILL NOT WORK in TRS socketed Video Cameras. NOT AT ALL. This little adaptor allows your client to use the lav mic they know and love, and you can "invisibly" adapt it to your setup. The cable feels really thin and weak, but I have other SC3s that stood up to years of abuse, and they still work great!

If you are using a DSLR or a micro four third (aka 'MFT' or 'micro 43') camera to record videos, this is an indispensible accessory for the excellent Rode Smartlav+. I am using a Panasonic G7. The Rode Smartlav and Smartlav+ are excellent microphones made for smartphones, so the cable provided has a 'TRRS' connection. Let's not get technical: basically, it means that the cable provided is not compatible with the universal 3.5mm input ('TRS') available on most video and audio devices, including DSLRs, camcorders and any other digital cameras. The RODE SC3 adapter does the job: I'm not sure how well it will age, but it's well-made and it's rather small. I gave it a 4-star rating due to the price which seems a bit high for such a -useful- simple device. -I hope you will find my review helpful-

Does the job, nothing else to say really.

Another great product from Rode, this converts the iPhone SmartLav Plus into a standard lav mic which can be used with any standard recording device and gives you 100% flexibility no matter what video or audio recording situation you find yourself in. I haven't yet tried it with a radio mic receiver but I am sure it will do the job there too. It is a well moulded, durable product that I expect to last a lifetime.

This appears to be the only major brand adapter out there, and with both the name and number of positive reviews I expected it to be a no brainer. However: - the first one worked but had very little bottom end. It sounded awful. - the replacement didn’t work at all. - the 3rd one finally works as expected (based on very limited testing so far). I’m amazed that it something so simple can be so difficult to get right, and am relieved that with the very variable quality I didn’t buy a Rode mic set. My view of the brand has gone down significantly as a result of this and I hope the adaptor will last - I don’t want to have to go through this ‘experience’ again.

Ridiculously overpriced but essential for getting stereo recording on my digital recorder.

Compré este cable como complemento para el RODE SmartLav+ pues lo uso para videoblogs grabando el audio de manera externa en una grabadora TASCAM DR-07 Mk II. El resultado es excelente y puedo guardar este cable en la bolsa incluida en el mismo micrófono, no ocupa mucho espacio. A pesar de la aparente fragilidad, este cable ha resistido el uso rudo que le he dado al micrófono. Aún así creo que estaría bien si hicieran una versión sin cable, que vaya directamente de tres canales a dos en un mismo dispositivo. A pesar de esto comprendo que el cable da algo de maniobrabilidad y aligera el tamaño para no estorbar ni en almacenamiento como en uso.

It is only useful for those who want to connect it to the pink input on a computer or who want to use it on their camera. A simple but useful tool that I have been using for years and I am satisfied with it.
