EheimSkim 350 Micro Surface Skimmer

Great little surface skimmer. I have a small marine tank and feed defrosted food such as squid and krill which tend to leave an oily film on the surface. The aquarium being open topped was starting to look unattractive with so much surface film. I installed the skimmer which is very straight forward, and within about 5 minutes I had a crystal clear water surface. I only run this for about 30 minutes twice a day after feeding and it works brilliantly. Mine seems to be very quiet and as it doesn't need to be on all the time not in any way intrusive. Only reservation might be, as has already been mentioned by others is that very small fish or shrimps could go down the tube into the device, however I think they would survive half an hour if it they did happen to get sucked in and could easily get out again when the device is switched off as the tube is reasonably wide.

I'd been plagued with surface proteins, oily and algae films for years, obscuring the water surface, reducing oxygen exchange, and generally looked messy.I use to use paper kitchen towels to remove some of the algae, but never all of it, and it soon returned.Not having seen the Eheim 350 surface skimmer mentioned in aquarium circles. I came across it by accident after researching 'surface film'.After reading the reviews bought one immediately. Installed it as soon as it arrived, and yes, within 3 minutes all the surface scum and algae had gone! With the additional benefit of further water flow within the aquarium, which has to be good.The floating inlet is a brilliant idea, and works like an 'overflow,' the water flowing into it making a gentle gurguling sound.An excellent Eheim product, well worth the cost, that does the job of clearing surface scum 100%.I would add it does not need to run all the time (use a timer to control on & off times), just a few hours a day is fine, and turn it off when you feed the fish, otherwise it'll pull in the food.

This is a brilliant surface skimmerHowever, when it arrived the plug looked a little too big, so much so I had to take it off to run the wire behind the back of my tanks hoodThe wire from the skimmer has a two pin plug similar to what you have on bathroom electricals, the plug fitted is more of an adaptor to convert it to a UK plugIt's not a major issue and works fine, though a full UK plug would have been better

First impression is that it couldn't have been produced by Eheim because it seems cheaply made and doesn't ooze the usual Eheim quality.However this little product soon won me over, it makes the surface of my 250L African Cichlid tank crystal clear in about 10 mins, it's quiet, low power, easy to clean and small enough to sit unobtrusively in the top corner of the tank. The downsides are it's not suitable for fry or very small fish (they'll get sucked in), the lead is not very long and you need to switch it off when you feed your fish or most of the food will end up inside it, other than that it does a great job for the price.

I purchased this product July 2019 after a month the tiny rubber suckers would not hold it on the glass. This is mainly due to the cable being extremely thick and heavy and the entry position making fixing extremely awkward . I opened up the fixing holes and fitted larger suckers . I have just replaced them for the second time . The sponge inside the unit is tiny it is completely blocked every couple of days and the top is awkward to remove for the constant cleaning. The unit is not fit for purpose. It will soon be consigned to the bin where it belongs.I have many excellent Eheim products. All well designed and fit for purpose . How this skimmer ever came to carry the Eheim name is a complete mystery to me . Please do not consider purchasing it , it is useless . In 37 years of tropical fish keeping it is way up there with the worst products ever.

The skimmer is a great piece of kit that will clear the surface of a 200 L tank in minutes. It is mostly quiet and because it has a 5W motor is cheap to run. Why then only 2 stars. There are many drawbacks. I used it for a week and in that time it has captured a Neon Tetra and a Cherry Shrimp which couldn't get out. The Neon sadly died. The 3 suckers that hold the unit to the glass are very powerful and if you want to remove the skimmer you will finish up with the unit in 3 sections and the suckers still attached to the glass. The suckers are extremely fiddley to refit. Whilst the skimmer is mostly quiet it will for no apparent reason become vey noisy, sometimes switching it off and on will cure it. The mains lead is also way too short. I have moved mine to a tank with a sump which is better and I am going to make a cover for it on a 3D printer at work. This will stop small fish etc getting in. It is a shame that a company like Eheim can't address these issues.

Arrivato Oggi all'inizio pensavo che la spina era diversa..ma poi lo aperta e c'era la normale presa italiana..Montato su acquario juwel rio 180 , avviato da 6 giorni, in 15 minuti mi ha tolto tutto il grasso ! Non vi dico quanto grasso c'era. Sono rimasto sbalordito dal lavoro che mi ha Fatto questo skimmer super eccellente qualità buona.Come litraggio e un 300 litri/h ,Voto 10/10

Ayant 2 grosses 🐢 d'eau dans un aquarium de 600 L j'ai enfin trouvé le remède pour enlever cette pelicule grasse et l'écume tout autour du bac en achetant cet écumoire de surface , pour la prise qui est Suisse il n'y à que la vis du boîtier à dévisser et vous trouverai dedans la prise française, rien de plus simple j'y suis moi même arrivé 😊.De plus pas la peine de faire tourner l'appareil toute la journée une p'tite quinzaine de mn suffisent.Je recommande ce produit en lui attribuant 5☆Isabelle

Wie bereits bei meinen Vorschreibern kam das Gerät offensichtlich ohne Eurostecker. Da ich aber noch soche Steker habe, dachte ich mir, schraubste halt einen anderen Stecker dran.Also die schraube des original-Steckers abgeschraubt und siehe da, das war nur ein Adapter !!Innerhalb des klobigen Steckers findet sich der normale Euro-Stecker !!

Buen diseño y calidad. Funcionamiento muy sencillo y efectivo.Va muy bien para mantener limpia la superfície del acuario. Sobretodo va bien en infestaciones de algas, cyanobacteria o film. También después de la poda que suele dejar el agua llena de restos que flotan.Incluso en acuarios grandes como el mío de 480l es efectivo, aunque si genera mucha suciedad es posible que haya que desatascar la esponja con frecuencia. Desde que lo tengo la superfície del agua está siempre perfectamente limpia.La única pega que le encuentro es que los caracoles Ramshorn acaban todos dentro. Cómo les gusta desplazarse flotando por la superfície se los traga y pueden atascar la parte flotante. Son un poco incordio. Los peces no quedan atrapados.Otro pequeño inconveniente es que al alimentar con escamas u otros alimentos flotantes hay que apagarlo. Lo he solucionado con un programador porque siempre suelo alimentar a la misma hora.Es una buena ayuda para mantener el acuario. Muy recomendable.

Had this product before and is very effective. I was disappointed this one did not have a genuine AU power plug. They did supply an adapter to their credit but it is my expectation from Amazon “Australia”purchase it would be for Australia use or at least noted clearly what power plug it comes with. This would have influenced my purchase as I believe power adaptors are fire hazards.
