Easy to fit, easy to use, sturdy and keeps our dog safe!
We have never used a harness before as all our dogs traditionally traveled in the back of the hatchback or in the back of the estate car, as most other dogs do. We knew it would be better to use a good safe travel harness so we researched and bought Sleepypod. It is robust but not hard, padded around the chest and neck so comfortable, the clips and fittings are sturdy and it is easy to thread the seat belt through the handles. Yes you have to learn how to do this, but anyone who has ever had a child will remember how initially you struggle with a car seat! Our Cocker Spaniel happily wears this for travel (not for dog walks) and can sit or lie down easily while remaining secure. We bought the Medium size, he weighs 14kilos aprox. We then only used it for long journeys, until recently when a friends car was hit, and spun over the road and the boot smashed into a tree - she was unharmed but the boot was crushed and her poor little dog (who was loose in the hatchback) got thrown about and broke his back. Our dog now always travels in his harness. "Click Clunk every trip" applies to our best doggie friends too.

Lovely knowing my pup is safe!
I am totally pleased with the Click it sport harness purchased in size medium for my 8 month old puppy. I can drive around the roads not feeling the need to constantly be checking all OK as I know she is safe. My pup tends to lie down as soon as the car starts to move so she is held in nicely. Should she be quite far from the belt, creating a pulled effect then there is a little bit of give on the harness straps when getting out of the car but I guess this is expected if they are pulling too much on the harness. This does not bother us as it is minimal and had only happened when very tightly pulled. I love knowing that the harness has been through full crash testing and was definitely my reason for buying. My puppy is priceless to me and knowing that she is safe is equally priceless. No crashes yet but very very happy.

missing key elements
the harness is fine and good quality - but it arrived missing the s-clip and the belt clip padding that the manufacturer sleepypod includes as standard. these seem like important elements for the dog's comfort - and you can't buy them separately. I will be sending this back and ordering straight from the manufacturer.

Awful!
This was absolutely awful! My dog was traumatised after the journey as was unable to move without tying himself in knots with the safety belt. He couldn’t lie down as the seatbelt locked and when he turned to get comfy as dogs do, he was tangled up. Had to sit in the back with him the whole time to stop the seatbelt locking as he was having to sleep pinned to the back of the seat. I also found he had chewed the clip for the belt afterwards on our brand new car! Have now bought another well known brand Of harness safety tested at fraction of price with an attachment that has the option of swivelling and he is very happy.

My Elkhound loved this harness!
I very rarely leave reviews, but on this occasion I simply have to. Although I was doubting my decision to purchase the harness because of the price, after watching some scary testing films of other car harnesses, my opinion changed. You can't put a price on the safety of your beloved pet when travelling in a car. When the harness arrived and after inspecting it, I thought to myself how could a dog be comfortable strapped in with this thing, but I was wrong. My dog has never been so relaxed and stress free when travelling in a car before. No excessive panting, whining or flailing around. She seemed like a completely different dog, she even laid down and fell asleep. So instead of a stressed out Elkhound and a stressed out driver and passengers, we actually had a pleasant and calm journey.

Using these for years.
Have used these for years on my dogs. Was in a crash once. I was hurt but she wasn't. They are sturdy, durable and comfortable. My 25kg husky was a size large and our very muscular corgi (15kg) was a small but then needed a medium when he turned 2. The latest one we ordered arrived within 12 hours!!!!

good and dogs look secure, but the silver bits come off
Important * you must get seat belt stoppers otherwise your dog will get pinned to the back set and be unable to move and get very distressed. In my opinion these should be sold with the product. you can get for a couple of pound online. the silver colour along the sides of the straps is starting to crack. we've only used it in the car on dry dogs so it should not be cracking. This is not a walking harness , suitable maybe if you're stopping off at a service station but that's all. its to be kept dry which will be challenging in the winter. size small for my 8kg parson russell (good fit) and small for my 6kg jack chi (slightly big)

The best and safest available - reassuringly expensive
I was recommended this product and have since recommended to others - it is much more expensive than other (inferior) harnesses but it is crash tested and you can not compare with cheaper alternatives - it’s quite simply all I would use. I have two - a small and a large for my two (different sized) whippets. Whippets are very narrow and have very deep chests so I was worried it may not fit but they are very adjustable and they both fit perfectly. If you care about your dog surviving a car crash I urge you to invest in this as it really could save your dogs life.

This harness is great because it clips up either side of my dog and doesn’t have to go over his head, which he’s not keen on. It’s harder than I thought to feed the seatbelt through, but I’ll work on that. Very happy to have a top quality, crash tested harness for car trips that also looks great and is comfy for pup. Speedy delivery - thank you.

The picture clearly shows the buckle sleeve and S ring, I did not receive it. I ask for a replacement and it was also not included the second time so I asked for a refund. The US version is very safe, this looked like a fake version. Sadly I would not recommend this to anyone.

I like to take my dog with me whenever possible, and she likes to go with me. I had read the study where they tested the safety of various dog harnesses in a crash simulator, and it wasn't pretty- the only one to pass was the Sleepypod Clickit Utility Harness. I looked into that, but it required the LATCH system, looked about as complex as installing a baby seat every time you strap your dog in, and required the dog to sit in the back seat. I knew I wouldn't use it. Still, I was concerned for my dog (and mine, since a flying dog can be a huge hazard in an accident!) given how much she rides with me. I discovered and ordered this harness a little less than a month ago. I was happy to see that it was tested by the Center for Pet Safety and is the only dog harness certified by this organization. I got it in time to test it out a few times before a long trip to visit family, which is good because I used it wrong the first time (they send a neat little diagram that is very clear- I just forgot to consult it right before I hooked her up!). How it works for the car: it is a typical step through harness that latches in two places (sort of behind the neck/shoulders for the parts originating from the chest and on the top of the back from the parts originating behind the front legs). Between these two connecting straps are two other straps that go horizontally (sort of along the ribs) to connect the two, one on each side of the dog. These straps remain somewhat loose and you simply slide your seatbelt through them, securing the seatbelt to the entire harness as opposed to at one point like many harnesses do. I'll be honest- my dog doesn't love it as she was used to complete freedom, but she tolerates it pretty well. One note: I tried to put it on my dog inside for fitting and getting her used to it. It did not go well, which gave me some concern about how easy it would be to use on a regular basis (several times a week). However, after a few uses, she now voluntarily puts her legs through the holes and lets me hook her up with no problems whatsoever. She can lie down and sleep if she likes. Is it more inconvenient than having her hop in and go? Sure. But I feel like we're both safer, and it's convenient enough that it's tolerable to use often. Another note: my dog got very upset when I put it on her while standing at her door because she kind of got stuck facing whichever way she's facing when I hook it up, and she likes to face me when I'm driving. Something to consider (which way your dog would prefer to face- you can have front and left or front and right, but probably not all three). I do use this in the front seat. The website does not say, this page does not say, but it does say in the instructions I received with the harness to use in the rear seats. I don't see how it makes a difference because the seatbelts are the same in the front and back, but I suspect it is more related to the back seat being generally safer, as well as the potential airbag issue. My car has a sensor for the airbag- I don't know what the weight is to employ the airbag but it must be over 40lbs since that is what my dog weighs, so I feel okay about her in the front seat. If the dog does set off the airbag sensor or if you do not have a sensor, the rear seat might be a safer option- airbags can be deadly. For what it's worth- I got the medium for my 40lb border collie mix. I have had to tighten the straps a lot, so I would say it runs a bit big. The literature that came with the harness says that the medium is rated up to 45lb for safety. I think this was the correct size for her. Using the guide and her measurements, she was almost in the range of a small, but I'm glad I went with medium because the small is only rated up to 25lb. I have not used it as a walking harness- she has walked around in it a few times when we made a short stop before getting back in the car and it was okay, but I would not use it as a primary walking harness. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. I feel that my dog is safer and it is convenient enough to use that I actually do use it.

The fit chart is very accurate. We bought a size large for our 57 lb lanky Setter. We have to tighten the straps all the way but it fits. The harness works great with the middle shoulder strap in the back seat. Our dog is secure but can comfortably move around. We feel greatly reassured this harness will keep us all safe in the car in the event of an accident.
